Phillis moved to full back in 1977.......

G Cornes was our leading goal scorer in 1977 with 80 odd
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Cheers, I wasn't aware of that. So he did the opposite to Seebohm then.

Freddie king-hit Timmy in the goal-square after he kicked a goal...

Played the rest of the game dazed.

But still kicked seven.

Pity Craig Balme didn't belt him in '84...

Roger Delaney also did a similar thing - that is gun full forward to gun full back.

Great full-back but hardly a "gun" full forward ....

But while we are at it Des O'Dwyer and Paul Arnold are two other players who started off in the forward line and ended up at full-back. Not sure I'd use "gun" to describe either but they did the job.

And IIRC James West went the other way - full-back to full-forward

Anyone notice that a David Granger thread ends up discussing players who swapped positions

Tim Evans spent 1976 at centre-half back after leading the goalkicking the year before.

Randall Gerlach did okay with 96 goals at full-forward...

IIRC Nicholls finally moved Phillis back to Full Forward in the last quarter and he kicked three. Some may say it was a little bit late.

Especially since the bays came home with a rush.

Two late goals to bring it back to eight points.

Then things got really desperate...
