1985 Grand Final - The amazing feeling of finally winning one, after sitting through so many losing grand finals, can't be explained in words.

Last U19s Grand Final - 2008- when the final siren went I was so proud. Fantastic 2nd half by the Glenelg boys with some 'highlights package moments' still fresh in my mind

Beating the Vics always, but the year Mark Naley had returned home to play with South Adelaide - now that was a ripper! Not sure of the year

State of Origin Game when Richard Champion showed Dermott Brereton who was Boss

Another, more for the pre-game build up, the excitement and the full-house of spectators - the Crows "trial" game V Esendon in 1991

Closely followed by the feelings of relief and excitement after the Crows official game V Hawthorn. (except when McDermott got king hit - I lost it for a while then!) That was something I'll never forget

2000 GF CDFC wins
2010 GF CDFC wins
2005? Tarrant kicks goal after siren, Collingwood wins. Winning kicks sails over my head. Collingwood supporters around me go nuts for about three minutes. Missus abuses Pies supporters on the way out, sulks all the way back to the hotel.
1994 State of Origin, Ablett kicks winning goal, again ball lands somewhere near me, to win game. Umpire disallows goal, gives free to Nigel Smart and SA wins.
1995 CDFC defeats Norwood in prelim to move into its first GF. Excited just to be there!

There's my five big moments. Not biased or anything.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Will be surprised if the 1978' GF isn't in it .. 1 point ball game, Wynne in the opposition coaches box.

The game itself wasn't actually anything special (imho), but there's a bit of folklore about it.

The '78 grand final definitely should be in there. Its our version of the VFL's 1979/Harmes grand final.

2002 SANFL Grand Final - Sturt v Central

Was a very emotional and exciting GF, except the whole Central losing thing.

I forgot as well when Central ran onto footy park for the 1995 GF, it was the closest ill probably ever come to being at Wembley. I have never heard such loud chanting in my life. As a kid i had a red bandana on as part of the 'Red Army' which was a slogan the club used throughout 95 96 finals series on merchandise. LOL

1988 Escort Cup GF, Woodville v Port - Jon Klug in master-class mode, a very excited coach Ebert participated in the lap of honour with the Woodville boys and my best friend sowed the seeds of his subsequent divorce by opening a bottle of French champagne that had been given to his wife as a wedding present - they were apparently saving it for that special moment - and that moment was a Woodville flag as far as he was concerned!

The '06 and '11 GFs were pure catharsis.

- The entire South Adelaide cheer squad floggers going up in smoke, 1986?

- SA v QLD, late 70s/early 80s - what a wonderful advertisement for Aussie Rules that game was

- that bloke who ran onto the turf at half time of a state game v WA back in the '80s, football in arms, ran full tilt towards the southern goals, dropped it on his boot and split the centre

- the farewell given to the Victorian umpire after he gave the Vics an armchair ride - 1983, wasn't it?

I thought it was either Rowan Sawers or John Russo (can't recall exactly, think it was Sawers) in 1986.
I was in the umpires room after the game. In those days ONLY the Field Umpire came over, the 2 Boundary & 2 Goal Umpires were from here.
I remember him sitting in the corner of the change rooms & no other umpire talking to him or near him - very unusual, "brothers in arms" & all that.
He was definitely biased that night, no question.

FWIW, here's my Top 10:

1. Parachutist hitting the Concourse Roof in the North Eastern Pocket - International Rules Game 1986
2. Tony Modra's Mark vs North Melbourne, 1993
3. Stephen Kernahan's 10 goals in 1st State Game under lights, 1984
4. Russell Ebert's 30m, punch of the ball over his head with 2 fists, into Peter Jonas' hands on Eastern Wing - vs QLD 1980
5. Balme vs Evans during the National Anthem, Grand Final 1984
6. Granger's 'king hit' of Cornes, Preliminary Final 1982
7. Dermott Brereton being 'dragged' after Andrew Rogers gave him a 'bath', vs Victoria 1987
8. Woodville beating Port Adelaide, 1st Semi Final 1986
9. WWT 2006 Premiership - after 4 previous losses including 126 point flogging, tremendous relief & joy
10. Dire Straits Concert
Stephen Trigg & Rob Chapman are SA Football Patriots

It was Russo in the mid 80's. My dad spoke to him at the Port Lincoln races a few yeas ago, he (Russo) reckoned that he was instructed by the umpiring fraternity that holding the ball was to be interpreted such that anyone tackled, even without (decent) prior opportunity, was to be penalised. Perhaps the Vics knew about it and it wasn't forwarded onto the SANFL.
