Famous Fans

Postby Pseudo » Tue May 15, 2012 9:18 pm

On pages 4-5 of last week's Football Budget was an article about "Famous Fans" by Robert Laidlaw.

In a table at the end of the article, David Hookes was listed as a West supporter and Peter Coombe as a WWT fan, among others.

Surely these two are wrong? I could've sworn that Hookesy went for West Torrens, and that Peter Coombe was a Blues man.

Pseudo, you obviously believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy if you are surprised that the Budget could contain any errors ...

Knowing the sporting historical buff that Laidlaw is, he would have know Hooksey was a West Torrens fan...

I wouldn't be surprised if the editor of the Footbal Budget did that List and got it wrong.

Brian Wenzel (country Practice) was a mad West Torrens supporter, And Tim Nielson got Mike Hussey and a few other aussie cricketers as Eagles supporters. David Hookes was a big West Torrens fan. Played under 19's for them as well!

Spoke to him on the weekend and that is what happened. He said he had a number of calls to tell him that Hooksey was an Eagles supporter. Of course he knew that already, the mistake wasn't his.

Julie Anthony & Kate Ellis big Glenelg fans.

I believe Kate Ellis is the No.1 ticket holder at the Bay at the moment as well as the No.1 at our club
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

He actually didn't play in the 1973 thirds premiership. He was emergency after playing all year. He occasionally referred to himself as the Derek Kickett of West Torrens under 19s.

A couple of nationally known North Adelaide supporters are Paul Cronin of The Sullivans and later the Brisbane Bears and for political junkies, Fran Kelly, of Radio National's breakfast show and presenter of ABC documentaries such as the Howard Years.

Pretty sure Becky Cole is a North Supporter, I seem to remember her being a club ambassador a few years ago.
