Always was passsionate about the game and has plenty to give to a club other than jokes and stories. Good bloke and hope he goes well. His borther Kevin is a fair player as well.

Both of these lads have been great for MPCC and I would love just one season of seeing them both near their best.
If this happens, MPCC will be close to premiers, especially if Steven can have another good year & Robbie Mc can improve on last year. Add in our 3 new recruits from district cricket, plus our under 17 players who play state cricket making cameos, who knowas what may transpire.

Have any of those Under 17 lads come up from your Under 15 side from last season?

Yes.

Did you guys end up having any luck getting a coach for the upcoming season?

Going 3 weeks without a hit means u need to practice, im sure people who have the week off will still have their training session but might even have an extra hit on the saturday!!! I hope it just starts up in Section 1, means a stand alone GF where clubs can get more supporters there, i know that in previous years, especially at WYC we had all 4 grades play GF's and had not a lot of supporters at grades. It didnt help that the A grade were the only home team.

WYC AGM tomorrow and a chance to meet the new coach!!!! LOOK OUT WYC, things will change for the better this season. I think our 1st item on the agenda will be that pre-season training will start probz early-mid august.

Totally agree! Finishing in the top two, you deserve a second chance...The stand alone a1 final is the way to go, I believe most cricketers that finish the week b4 still have a craving for cricket the following weeks until footy gets in our heads again and probably would create more interest if it was catered for and marketed properly by the association...Would be awesome to see bigger crowds and a neutral venue for the GF would be the icing on the cake. Then both clubs could get a part of the takings

Neutral venue? Why would another club host an event such as a grand final yet not get the takings as you say the grand final sides would get them. Love the fact we play grand finals and finals at the home ground of the top side.

do not agree with a neutral oval... you finish top you get the rewards... i personally don't mind the current finals system. but the new system in section 1 does sound good...

The Coromandel Cricket Club would like to congratulate Sam Cheek on his appointment as 1st XI & Club Captain for season 2012-13. Sam continues a tradition of Cheeks at the club, with his father captaining the A's from 1993-98. Sam has the full support of the club behind him and we wish him all the best in the role for this upcoming season.

If the association were to go to a format where the top two sides get the second chance, they DO NOT deserve a home GF as well? A second chance or win and in the GF is enough reward for finishing top, let alone a week off as well..The takings on the day could be split up between the host and the two finals teams and charge a small entrance fee...Im sure most supporters would pay a small fee otherwise they are not going to go watch anyway!

I have no problem with the current format but would be better as a stand alone A grade GF..

near impossible... why would a host club share anything with any other club, especially when you factor in bar takings.... i'll use the saafl for example. Salisbury FC hosted the D5 grand final last year... Those 2 sides who get in the grand final get nothing, except the chance to win a flag.... Clubs make a alot of money hosting those days... maybe they could set it up like that in this comp, clubs could bid on it... But it wouldnt be voted in imo... Also bout charging people to get in to the game, i could think of maybe 2 or 3 clubs were you could do that.... if plympton wasn't playing i personally wouldnt waste my time...

Sacked after taking the side to the finals 2 years in a row and being a couple of catches away from a GF spot.

Interesting decision by the club to change in those circumstances.

Yeah he is exactly what our club wants and needs.

In regards to bringing players with him that hasn't happened yet.

I tend to disagree on this one. If I had played in a GF the week before and lost, I would sure as heck would not want to go watch the Section 1 GF, unless our A grade were in it, and even then it would suck eggs a bit. If I played in a winning GF the previous weekend I would still be enjoying myself, and watching 2 tems I couldnt give a rats for would be the last thing on my mind.
I do however agree with a nuetrel venue for the GF, but it will never happen. For what its worth, MPCC have decided which way they will be voting at the AGM.

Finally Cricket season is approaching us again :D Years ago the finals were always played at Mitchell Pk and Edwardstown. Mitchell Pk is the perfect ground IMO to hold a stand alone GF as it's a great ground to play cricket on and perfect for the spectators to watch from around the grass areas.

Either hold it at a central location such as Mitchell Park or if you wanted every club to get the chance to host it nominate a club before the start of each season and if they managed to make it to the GF then thats their good luck. Getting kind of bored going to WYC every year ! ;)

only hosted one in the last five years mate ;) ICC have hosted two of them but i don't mind travelling to ICC on grand final days haha

i believe rewarding the top sides with a home ground is something we shouldn't change. It is good reward for the club to come top, and then because of a successful year be able to make some $ for the club.. I personally couldn't understand holding it at MItchell Park when they don't have a team in section 1.

Regarding stand alone GF

You have to not bring in personal opinion. Who cares if YOU would come or not.

Will it hurt the association by having it on a stand alone weekend? I doubt it
Is there a possibility of having a bigger crowd? Quite possible.

If it doesn't hurt the game or the association and theres a possibility of it increasing a crowd, then go for it.
