A good idea to join or not?

Just joined Families SA as a youth worker and the union came around yesterday during training to sign us all up.

Normally 1% of baseline salary but because we are casual it's a once off $55 for the year.

I'm leaning towards yes because of the false allegations that can be made and they also have a couple of other covers that aren't too bad either. Plus the cheap holiday accommodation available around the state...

Any info would be great...

I work for a government organisation where out of about 900 employees there is about 5 people who are not in the union. Why should they pay nothing yet receive the same pay rises and benefits that we receive through the hard work of the union? Hence everyone knows who the non members are and they dont receive any favours from me or most other people.
Even if you dont support the union atleast supoort y
our work mates who are paying membership each week, the fee is tax deductable, and who knows you may need them for some legal support or advice if you ever have any ssues in the work place.

You and your 894 mates are a disgrace IMO.

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion. But when you have the non members bragging about how they will save thousands of dollars over their careers and still receive the same pay as everyone else i think its more about the money than their principals on unions.
I'm number 1, so why try harder!!

That is you opinion. As a union delegate I am there to help union members and advise them in their best course of action and assist them in their rights. We recently had our EBA discussed and signed off on we won things in the EBA and had to give things up it is give and take which is how a union should work. But why should a person ask for a union to help when they are not a member? They made a choice not to be a member and when they need help they expect a union person to assist them. I am sorry but you cannot have it both ways because then no one would be a member. Union's have fought for workers rights for well over 100 years and we will keep on doing so. A strong union is a good union. I cannot comment on what other unions choose to do because that is their business.

I'd only object to being in a Union if I thought they were giving some of my money to a political party or to someone like Craig Thompson...

Google j play and it lists every track and what time they played it.

Usually updates shortly after each shift changes.

It's kinda like cordial - everyone likes it at different strengths ;)

Eg; I would drink green cordial almost straight - on the rocks, however if you put too much fruit cup into the glass it's too sickly

In South Australia, can you operate a motor boat if you don't have a car driver's licence?

I've insured boats where some listed drivers (you know what I mean) have been 15, so I guessing no.

Just a guess though

You need a boat licence. Easy test, cheap as chips (I believe they are now renewable but got mine before that).

I think you can operate a boat without a licence but you have to do some piddly speed, 4 knots maximum I think.

They tell you the answers when doing the test.
