SANFL Team Songs

Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

Postby Wedgie » Wed May 09, 2007 8:18 pm

The real question here is, was the music used for Little Peter Rabbitt or the Eagles first?
If it was used for Little Peter Rabbit first Im sticking with that to describe their song.

PS Pretty sure South Sydney use it and have for many years so yet another SANFL side has been thieving!

Down at the Torrens
There's a mighty football team
They're known as the Eagles
And they'll always reign supreme
They play to win and never lose
In every game they play
And they'll win the flag this year

We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
And will win the flag this year

Cheers mate, awesome response time again!
Christ, I cant even remember that and I used to spend many a day at Thebby as my step dad was a Torrens man, mind you they didn't get the chance to play it much in those days.

Yep, I remember hearing that for old Eagles games. I think they only changed to a different song in the last year or two before they merged. Was glad when they returned to it after the merger.

I didn't think you could remember it for that reason. :)

I don't think that this is from the time you went to Thebarton with your step-dad, but it's an interesting stat:

West Torrens only won once at Thebarton in 1989 (their last season there) - a year they won ten games, the last home match against Sturt.

Saw at half time of the WAFL game on ABC2 this week that they had a group of kids singing the songs of the clubs that were playing, same as the SANFL did about 5 or 6 years ago. What a shocking idea that was

I'm sure that was in the last year that Central had the previous song. I remember during a finals match at Football Park that was being shown on the big screen.
