Once a player leaves the league for a set number of years they shouldnt have to get a clearance from their old Barossa club if they wish to return and play for another club

Fair call Jim. I assume you would be happy to not count time at CDFC or any other SANFL club as 'time out of the league' though? or does this defeat the point for you blokes?

No fairs fair. If you go down to SANFL then you should be able to go to the club of your choice when you return.
90% of players would probably return to their old club anyway but there are some who for one reason or another may wish to play elsewhere, why should they be bound to their old club?
Maybe bring in a rule where after spending 2 years in another league you get an automatic clearance on returning

Surely not!
Isn't this the idea behind the points system in place to encourage players to show some loyalty and return to their original club rather than sell their soul to the highest bidder?

How are Gawler Central doing at this time of year? Many ins or outs?

Just who is the hot favourite this year.

Barossa Districts would look like they are the hot favourite again, with some great pick-ups

Taunuda as always will be very strong and Gawler Central look like they will press also.

Cant see anyone else getting over the top of these 3 this year. A race in 3 for the flag.

Barossa will be lucky to lose a game.

Of course, I was just wondering how the boys were faring on the training track, and whether there are any new faces. More importantly, I was curious as to whether the bulk of their squad from last season is sticking around. I haven't been down that way for a few years.

Yardy normally you speak a fair bit of crap but your comparisions with A1 and BLG is fairly accurate.
However you fail to acknowledge that all A1 teams are on 15 points while the Might Magpies are only on 3 points.
Give us 4 extra quality players that we can afford and we would not only be a top four side but we would play in the GF and probably take away the choclates.
It stinks that SAAFL still giive all their teeams 15 points and we have that stupid sliding scale.
And while I am at it the BLGFA rule that no clearances inter league is the best rule we have as it stops clubs poaching players from within.
Bloody South tried changing the rule due to missing out on Fry and trying to back door clubs with Dunne.
South really think clubs that stupid and try to get away with rule change at AGM.
Seems we are having not many in's this year for BLG teams or do we need to wait until clearances start next week to have clubs play there cards.

Billy can earn the same money close to home, herein lies the problem.
Billy can play football, but we couldn't rely on him building space shuttles for NASA.
So any proposition to compliment his football earnings for above market salary to work in the fruit and veg isle of Coles or the McDonalds drive thru will prevail.
My tip is for him to get cold feet and Carl to be the white knight.

Rumour is the SAAFL are considering bringing in that rule for the 2014 season.
We might see how good you think it is then

Think you might misunderstand what the rule is in the BL&G. It is simply that say a Willaston don't have to clear a player to gawler south.
So yeah the poaching of SAAFL players for massive dollars will continue

I suspect jimmy picked up that it should have read "intra league" not "inter league".

No, I allowed for the error.
If every league does that, the cost of players is just going to go up and up.
How would it affect BL&G? A third of the SAAFL clubs are right next door to you. That's around 250 points to play with, but many of the those clubs dont need your A Graders because they play in the lower divisions and would be quite happy taking B Graders at zero points.
Instead of pinching players from each other, they'll have to get them from somewhere.
