Zanandrea definitely played a season at Freeling (in senior colts) as his mother had moved to Hamley Bridge at the time, but he still wanted to play in the BL&G comp.

All correct. Spoke to the big Zizz and he assures me that Hamley haven taken steps to assure he is zero points.

You are correct Skip - he came back to Kapunda to play seniors after that year. So how can he be 0 points at HB? Some "dodgy brothers" ads were clearer! Are they back in business?

Anyone know if Hamley have got a discretionary bonus allocation of points? The Community Football Leagues max is 15 points, but it allows for a league to give discretionary extra points above that level if applied for prior to March 1st. Methinks Hamley may have a crack at that and may not yet HAVE to play any colts.

My guess would be it'd have something to do with him having lived in HB since '07 (almost a quarter of his life).

Yep, I would say this could be the case and good luck to them if they're successful.

I heard Thach has put his hand up to play 2's
Problem solved.

Only if Thach is worth 6 points. Probably is come to think of it.

Whoever misses out every week still recieves their pie and coke if they play 2's.

will bubner not playing so save on pies

That is irrelevant.

'3.3.2 In accordance with the criteria below, each player selected in a Senior Team who has had playing experience with another Club in Australia may be given a further points rating (in addition to any point or points given under 4.1.1 above) depending on the level of the competition or competitions in which he has previously played, the number of games played in that competition, the period of time since he previously played in that competition and/or any other criteria which may be approved by the Board.'

Given that travel could (and does) impact on one's time and finances (both through fuel and potential working time lost) then it could reasonably be argued that it is more viable for him to play for the club in the town of which he has resided for more than 5 years. Zanandrea works much closer to HB than Kapunda. That seems decent enough grounds for a reduction. Of course, I don't know if that's the argument, but to say where someone's lives is irrelevant is only true if you are choosing to travel for footy and footy is the only thing taken into account.

Fair enough. I still think it's irrelevant. Otherwise anyone living in Adelaide could play for any club in Adelaide as no points because they live in Adelaide.

Forgot Haseldine on that list. So even assuming this Zana bloke is made zero and they get some extra points they are still over. Big risk signing these guys up while banking on the points reduction/extra allocation. Reckon there would be some unhappy campers out there!

Maybe - IF the Adelaide club was struggling on the field and IF the player had moved there (or closer to the club) for employment and IF the player had lived in the town anyway for some time - that's why it would have to be a permit of some kind, as the listed rules wouldn't allow it. (Though there is a section for special considerations). It's not there for everyone.

It'll be interesting to find out exactly how the Bombers have got it over the line though......

Is it really Ballsy though? Are the players who will be affected by it on board? Seems a bit chicken too me, just sign up everyone you can, dont have faith in the players there, let the individuals suffer for the club's mistake.

I think it's an unfortunate fact of footy life. If yours is a smaller town, you've got to go hard at players to top up your list. Yep, some locals will miss an A grade spot, but if they truly love their club, they'll be happy at the extra success that the recruits will bring and can learn from watching the 'guns' go about their business. The REAL key to making it all work is recruiting blokes who will be genuine club men while they're with you.
