Two wells were a promising young side, under achieving for years the experience of the elder ex sanfl player helped that team dramatically.
If these two blokes are great players it will help but united doesn't have the depth that two wells did, two different sides at two different stages, don't think you can really compare.

Absolutely agree

they came from a very long run of fifths (maybe 6/8) a grand final from a couple of years ago and yes a spoon, but they have a really strong bunch of locals and juniors coming out of their brass wahzoo. hey if longies take out the flag i want to be there to see it, how did united go with injuries last year? TW had a shocker in 2011 from what i hear.
at this time of year every club thinks they have the side that can win it (why would you bother if this wasnt the case?) i tried to put an unbiased view on it and take to the task objectively. unfortunately that is how the numbers stacked up.
get the draw and tip the season see what happens, i'll even accept the fact that you think united will finish with 16 wins!

At the end of the day, someone will be unhappy because their club will be predicted as spooners for the year.
I do think United will win more than one match but I can see what you're trying to do.
Everyone else has the same opportunity to post their predictions, so let's see em people, rather than simply rubbishing others.
MC, how many wins will United get this year?

My predictions
Ladder
Two wells (with the experience gained from last year will finish ahead in a tighter season)
Mallala (always around the mark and rumored to have some quality recruits)
Balaklava ( I just can't see them going anywhere too fast, and I think they won't lose as many as first predicted)
I can't seperate the next 3
Virginia (if big nik is In jail from his offenses, Virginia may even go below 4th, he is a game winner as proven)
Hamley (seems have gotten a few handy pick up and I think will be alot harder to stop and trouble some sides still lack depth)
Hummocks (with ciccolela back he will be a bloody good footballer, extremely hard to stop an who knows who will follow him to pt Wakefield)

And unfortunately long plains last (from last year just can't see them troubling the top 3, or even for 4th 5th and 6th...

Exciting season ahead that's for sure

Sweet! No pressure on long plains. I wouldn’t want to be the team to drop a game to longies. That would be embarrassing.

Ladder prediction:

Virginia: picked up a few high quality players and have really only lost Wilkey, they're throwing everything at 2013.
Mallala: should be top 2 given the quality in their squad, underachieved last year.
United: Have under achieved badly in the past 3-4 years, and again have thrown everything at 2013. Anything less than top 4 would be surprising.
Two Wells: Always competitive and will get it another nudge - both Allmonds will end up back at Roosterland by seasons end is my tip.
Balaklava: lost a bit, and unlucky to miss the 4.
Hamley: again unlucky to miss the 4. Still lacking depth, but have some quality players that are getting on or have battled with injury in recent years that will again test their depth.
HWE: Gained more than they have lost, but I feel everyone has moved past them. An ageing list will again test their depth.

Probably way off the mark, but who cares :D .

It doesn't matter how good a player's reputation is or how old he is; a good player is a good player. Too often clubs recruit players on reputation, but it doesn't matter one crap if they're only playing for the money. One year stars are usually not gonna get you a flag.
This year some clubs have obviously done their homework and might know something we experts don't, so watch out for HWE, Hamley and United. Look at Kapunda last year in the Blg - ageing teams, under 17's, one unknown import expected to finish near the bottom - finished playing in the preliminary, because players wanted to be there. This must've happened in other leagues too.
Way too early to comment on positions on the basis of some "names"

Virginia top  , weve lost a fair few and only picked up a few. our list is old and we got well beaten by kersbrook in our trial. I think Mallala and Two wells are the teams we will be hunting, nice deflection there swamp

Who else have you lost AKA?

Outs: Wilkey and Mav
In: Howell, Robertson, Stoyanoff, Rawson and AKA (for a full season).

Given u were GFinalists last year, I cant see why you shouldn't be able to replicate that.... am I missing something?

P.S. Trial form is not usually all that accurate. I remember playing for an WWT Eagles U19s team that beat Balaklava's A grade by 22 goals in a trial match - Balaklava went on to win the premiership that season.
