Two wells reserves actually are struggling for numbers from what I've heard, had b graders turn up to trainings but no more then 10 in one training. Could be a long season if depth comes into it.

Wow, are you sure about that?

43 different players played reserves for TW last year.

You'd need to be getting a few through the gate every week. How did it all go when United had Peter Burgoyne? Don't know if he was on $25k , but that excercise would be the template for success or otherwise. Input from any United posters?

Or not?

We were going to print last year's but after the crap the Sunday Mail copped, we decided against it.

That was awful by the Sunday Mail. Possibly it was a result of "cut and paste" journalism......

I can't see how that would resolve any such issue, no APFL clubs are in danger, HWE struggled as much as anyone could have last season in the B's but still managed to get a team on the park each week.
There is always plenty of supporters in attendance no matter where each team is on the ladder, apart from the obvious problem at Under 17 level things are fine, even metro clubs struggle to fulfill this age group, school, part-time jobs and a bit of fluff to contend with makes it difficult.
I thought it was great how the side with the bye provided players for United last season in the senior colts, perhaps they could look at Under 18's, 15's & 12's for the future?

not trying to be negative but this would only prolong an issue that will still arise.

The way I see it, the 15 to 17 year old bracket is the hardest to fill, the 14's doesn't seem to be a problem, I think 14 year olds playing against 18 year olds wouldn't be too clever in most circumstances.
What would be a viable solution then in your eyes?

No club would pay a set figure for the season let alone something that huge. Thats pretty much your whole playing budget gone in one whack. Way too risky especially if the player got injured first game, which is why a figure per game is preferred. However, I do know that at least 1 BLG club has been offering set figures for at least the past 2 seasons.

Its hard to tell if Burgo was a success, how do you measure it?
Did he perform to expectations on the field? No.
Did we get increased sponsorship, attendances and general revenue (bar, canteen)? Yes.
Did we make a record profit at the end of both seasons? Yes.
You can see its difficult to judge.

I would say a better example if it worked would be with Two Wells last year and big Feasty. We all know decent ruckman aren't cheap, and a ruckman with AFL and SANFL experience would cost even more to attract so Two Wells would be a better place to direct the question Roodog. We know Feast and TW were successful on the field, but off it, I would have no idea.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
