Re: Hills Football League
That Nairne result will be interesting. I thought stretchers could exit the oval at any point, as obviously the main concern is to get the injured player treated.
As for Lobey...they were in the game for oh, 3 minutes. Again Lofty's kicking at goal was rank and instead of a 140 point win, it really should have been near 30 goals.
Well done to Barker, I did say 2 weeks ago that Barker have to be watched. I think they're one game out of the 5 now.
Birdwood B grade with 2 wins...

Re: Hills Football League
i saw my first hills footy match on sat... mt lofty vs lobey. lofty r an awesome football side! a very well drilled team, apart from kicking straight. but that happens these days. there skill level was top notch. lobey dont seem like a bad side, there biggest downfall was disposal of the ball. couldnt count how many times they'd just get the ball on the boot without looking for a target... from wat i saw though surely lofty would be one of the favourites for the flag again???

Ah, where's my pal Joe Scuderi? 'Maccy gonna make Top 4, Maccy gonna beat Kersbrook'........um? You couldn't beat Callington and have now probably sewed up 8th spot. Good Work!
Trent Thorpe won't be winning back to back Mail Medals. He should be out for a few weeks after damaging his knee Saturday.

One of the faves, yes. But it's hard to go past Uris at 6-0...
It'd be tough at the moment to not predict a Uris V Lofty GF, but it's a long season.
What's the go with Onkas not accounting for Hahndorf by much? Anyone go?

Re: Brad Pearce
This kid has always been a gun! However in previous years I dont remember him consistantly kicking bags of goals from the middle, what has changed this year? Has he toned down his out of control, yet very humorous off field behaviour and concentrated on his footy or just having even more of a cracker season than in the past?
Makes you wonder if he should have really had a crack throughout his juniors down at Norwood, definitely has the skill and aerobic capacity to play league footy, maybe not the dedication.

IB by 1-2 goals over Uraidla after a strong last quarter by uraidla with the wind, downhill. IB finish the first round undefeated, first Div 1 flag coming?
Didn't see the final result for the Lofty Onkas game but i heard that lofty won by 4 goals

Leigh is ok, it wasnt that dirty, just a big hit, he got up after a bit and played just as hard after, ended up with 2nd best i think. And lets just say that Maxy left his goal kicking boots at home :p
When are you coming out for a run elephant? Gotta train to get a game though!

Re: Hills Football League
Callington was certainly too good over Maccy on the weekend and they showed what they can do when they've got the full compliment of players to choose from. In hindsight, you could say it was headed for one of those days when Murphy and Kempster pulled out of the side and when Michael Thomas did his hamstring in the first 3 minutes of the game. It will sound like I'm making excuses I know but I know that truth be told, you've got to win those games regardless if you're hoping to play finals football.
Bond was certainly very smart across half back and he can still weight his kicks very well to the target, Daniel Jenner was very good even though I don't think he made their best players and Callington's disposal by foot was excellent and was probably the main difference between the two sides.
On a separate note, it was interesting to see both Kangarilla and Echunga both suffer heavy defeats after not having a competitive hitout the week before.

Re: Hills Football League
Apparently there wasn't a very good turnout from either division for interleague training last Wedesday night and there weren't many apologies either.
Will be interesting to see what the Big O has to say about this.

The squad was named in the Budget and it was highlighted that all players MUST attend or have a legit reason. It seemed pretty obvious to me that it was based on a reckoning that not many numbers would roll out.

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

You're right, he is a gun! Having another great year, after finshing 3rd in last years Mail Medal, as well as finishing in the Top 10 Goal Kickers playing from Centre. Having more time up forward with the arrival of the James bros., leading to his recent 'bag' of goals. If you've seen him on the juice, you would know he is one of the funniest men you could meet, but these antics have been toned down due to a new 'interest' outside of footy. Won't win the Mail Medal again as too many of his team mates have been pinching votes. You would think he will stay at Kersbrook while the ol man is president.
Understand none of the Kersbrook blokes chosen for representative level are available. Owen can't be too upset with us, we fielded 1/4 of the Country rep side last year.

Re: Hills Football League
And I dare say that he hasn't fully adjusted to HFL yet.
Lofty's squads were still missing a few, Gordon, Waite, Mehta, Mi Stapleton, Fleet...that's pretty ominous.
With birdwood not abvle to get near Bridgey, can the Rppsters win one this year?

Re: Hills Football League
good win to the raiders on sat, good to see big man J Bentley kicking 10.4
Birdwood never really looked like winning, with what was probably their best chance to date
Raiders still not at full strength with probably 4 to come back in and captain S Feijen out for possibly the season with a broken arm which he got playing against loby.
real tough game this week against lofty for the cutting cup, luckily for us its being played at the swamp, should be a real test for the lads and hopefully a good contest.

Re: Hills Football League
Good to see Blackwood get knocked off by Barker- I reckon Barker are a side that has had a real crack every game they have played. Blackwood have only beaten easy-beats (except IB in round 1 who I reckon will flog Blackwood in the re-match) and could well be sitting below Barker in three weeks time after they play Onkas and Uraidla, and Barker play Lobey and Bridgey (then Birdwood). I reckon on paper Barker, Hahndy and Lobey are pretty even, Barker are playing with more heart though. Shows how wrong pre-season predictions were and that obviously the blokes who didn't jump ship must be playing for the coach. Benson must be spewing, it's one thing to try to buy a prem, it's another to actually buy the right players. Just a thought.
