I was at the game today, my first Adelaide plains game, and I would imagine no 15 I think it was for the rams, scrawny lad ran up behind whittwell and gave him one in back of the head. He should miss atleast a week and another bloke was throwing punches willy nilly, all this did was fire the mallala boys up who completely dominated play after the fights,

Montgomerie and Whitwell are targeted by gutless wonders. Both Mail medalists who I've never seen throw a punch. For the coaches and players who like to take a cheap shot at these blokes - pathetic. I recall a final a few years when LP sent out some nutter that dropped both players. Still lost!

They may not have thrown a punch but im sure their mouths have done some provoking over time, they may not have deserved what eventuated but lets face it you dont need to throw a punch to be provoked into the actions that happened, im not condoning violence of any type on the field but some people have short fuses and it seems like Mallala knew which players to provoke

A bloke running from 5 metres behind a bloke to punch him in the back of the head is not something that's part of the game it's a coward act,

Saturday's match was a good solid game of footy. If you take out two brain explosions from just two players that were just plain stupid, which led to a few push and shoves, it was a clean match played in good spirits. One thing about Phillips' coaching, he made sure that such brain explosions were very rare and penalised his own players for if it did happen, I guess time will see if discipline issues start to creep back into the Rams game... it would be a shame as it certainly derailed thier chances on Saturday.

I hear Greg Phillips might be coming out of his coaching retirement next year! If this is so I'll be booking your ticket now for the Two Wells Vs Virginia match.

I don't think he retired. I'd call it more of a hiatus than retirement.

KNOB.

Seriously, how do you possibly think anyone of any age sniping someone from behind is tough and/or good for the game?

You must be one of those average footballers who think it is their right to belt an opponent simply because he is better than you because its the only way you can compete at his level!

Age means nothing with this sort of act, it is downright dangerous and gutless no matter how you look at it. There are plenty of teenagers who have passed away from a king hit from another teenager.

If Virginia dont suspend this player themselves for their next game they are setting a really poor example to the entire junior program, basically condoning the action and then creating an environment for it to prosper in the next generation of Rams...

R u blokes serious?? Ask yourselves the question.... Why would he do that?? Nothing but retaliation is how I seen it right in front of me!!! Yep his actions were wrong no1s condoneing it including the coach which if u knew him never stands 4 undisciplined acts... So don't start that crap either! Why did the Virginia players report get dropped there's another question 4 ya while your at it..... And I suppose running round throwing stomach punches and running off isn't cowardly either ?? U guys seriously played some good footy on the weekend and definately were too good but some of the comments on here deflect from that performance #dissappointingresponsemallala

Mate, you said in YOUR OWN post that the player's actions are wrong and no one is condoning it, so WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING IT? You're obviously suggesting it's retaliation for something, but you'd front the Mallala player face on and say something along the lines of "What the !@#$ do you think you're doin'?". Make a stand in front of the bloke for sure. Don't do it as a sniper. (And now that we're on Twitter.....#crazyrationale)

Not from Mallala Crowz, but you finding excues for Freaky's comments is just as BAD AS HIS COMMENTS, and belongs in the stone age. Aren't we supposed to be adults and teaching our kids to be the same. Retaliating because someone beats you or calls you a name? What crap! Finding excuses for thugs because it's 'just a bit of biff" isn't acceptable.
Enjoy the game for the skill and excitement, or go back to watching cage fighting on TV.

I'm the only one posting from Mallala and if you read my post I'm not whinging about the game at all, merely commenting on the unit trying to explain and defend his logic of allowing young blokes as opposed to old blokes belting blokes from behind, just because his balls haven't dropped yet. As such, I'm not sure why the response from Mallala has disappointed you so much. If the young fella had have copped a couple back on the chin like he deserved, I'm sure that would've disappointed you more. The umpires dealt with it appropriately, both Virginia and Mallala got on with the game and the rest is history.
