I rocked up halfway through the B Grade and there was no one on the gate (very poor form if you're keen on making money).
The club was in breach of its liquor license on the weekend. I could go on...? More poor form from you mob than anyone else...?
Clubs require volunteers to do jobs like man the gate, they are not easy to find all the time, so instead of carrying on like a upper-class snob, maybe donate some of your time to help out a club like Hamley... Or is it easier to sit back and take pot shots... If you do already help out a club, you should know first hand that running a club can be quite labourious, and know that people running their clubs are clearly doing their utmost to keep their club alive.
Most clubs in this league will struggle or rely on too few volunteers to get through a normal Saturday at the footy/netty, and club likes Hamley, United & HWE even more so due to location and population.
Don't forget that people have been at the club from usually 8.00am on the gate, in the canteen, on the BBQ, coaching/umpiring the U8's and U10's, so when u turn up at 1.00 on a Saturday arvo, they have already been there working thier arses off for at least 5 hours if not more... AND THATS EVERY CLUB!
As for the Liquor licence, I reckon if you held every club to the letter of the law on their licences, footy state wide would be a pretty dry occassion.
I would hope that you took the time out to tell the local footy president about what errors they may be making (as they genuinely might not realise) and what effects it may have if they were 'caught', or again was it too easy just to sit back and criticise.
I also could go on....
