nah - reckon there was a Sturt (2002 or 3) and an Eagles (2010?) Premiership that beat the Doggies

Not sure on exact numbers but the Gowans played a heap of Grand Finals before coming to Centrals. Am sure they played in a senior grand final every year of their playing life except 2012

Sorry to burst this bubble but Rowland lost a senior colts GF in 2008.

He's played 8 in a row and won 7 since 2006

Any significant player or coach movements for next season?

Mallala: Scott Hahn - retired

United: Cam Faulkner - returning to Kadina

Hamley: Herberle appointed A grade coach.

I'm sure there must be others.

Local talent coming up to watch out for:
Seccafien & Gameau
Appleby
Coombe
Wedding
Arbon

No pressure on these young lads, but I reckon there are two SANFL and one AFL player in this lot. :D

This year is the first year we have seen the rule backfire on the association, and i think it will happen more and more in future unless something is changed. I think the league should look at age classes. For instance, association should be compulsory for players under a certain age, e.g. 28 years old (???). Then I think it should be up to clubs to nominate those players outside of this age class, e.g. those >28 years old (??), that are keen to play and hence put their name up for selection. This would ensure that the team is filled mostly of young players that still have a chance of playing at a higher level, but also enables those older players to be involved but doesn't penalise those older players that would prefer a week off. Lets be honest those good enough at 28 years old have probably already represented the league in previous years anyway.

Can definately agree with the age class, I think that's only fair.

This is the worst part about what is now the meat market of country footy! Some clubs were recruiting while they/others were still in finals campaigns!
The problem is, witht he points system in place, the demand for good players (with low points) is rdiculous, and if your club isn't out there trying to recruit you will be left behind.

Im not a big fan of it, but theres nothing you can do about it, and its only going to get worse unfortunately!

Yeah, HBFC took it to the pre-AGM, along with a motion to allow 21 players in the reserves teams during the regular season, if your club has them.
Mallala also floated the possibility of a twilight ANZAC Day match against United, Balaklava another side looking to do something similar with HWE.
Full report in tomorrow's edition but I'll have to expand on the Mallala ANZAC idea for next week. Interesting concept.

It'll be voted on by the clubs at the AGM on the 11th as a by-law change . Majority rules.
