The 1st 4 holes are about to be upgraded soon to match the others.
Tbh it's a while since I have been there. Mostly it was getting held up by dudes that have never played before. From memory you also didn't really get punished for a bad shot as the trees weren't that thick.
Might be time for another hit out there.
Wouldn't bother with north lakes it is pretty rubbish unless you live close

Playing Mt Osmond Friday. Will have to do a review on the courses I've played this year over the weekend. Both from an average golfer and a greenkeepers point of view

Tight course with plenty of blind tee shots. Play safe and down the middle where and when you can. Not overly long, but very tight. Lots of 3/4 iron opportunities off the tee. Not many for opening the shoulders with the boom stick.
Greens are excellent and fairways are top level too. Might be a bit windy and wet Friday, rug up mate!!
Also, about the 9th/10th tee has some amazing views back down over the city skyline and from Brighton left to the Port right. Great photo opportunity.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go
Went out to north lakes on Friday and shot 87 which is my best ever for 18 holes. Left about 5 putts out there too, though I felt like a putting god on those greens after playing mt osmond earlier in the week. Shot 95 at mt osmond, but we are a bit "generous" in our counting of a wayward tee shot (ie we don't) so it was probably more like a 100.
Yeah there are some very tight tee offs around there. Should definitely be taking the 3 wood or an iron off the tee much more often than I did. But if I am only playing a course once every few months, nobody likes the wimpy irons off the tee. Boom stick for glory.

The front 9 was the worst golf I've ever, ever played! out in 71
And the course was how you described, with super fast greens..

We are the opposite, any shouts that go OB, in the water or cant be found etc.. all attract a 1 shot penalty, although we dont penalise the distance etc properly.

It was one of those things that we didn't care about when we first started playing and shooting 110 or whatever and have never changed. We also don't penalise distance. Just chuck it down somewhere near where you lost it, no walking back to the tee or hitting a provisional either

The front 9 was the worst golf I've ever, ever played! out in 71but come home in 54 to make it a semi reasonable round for a hacker like me.

haha i felt like people were turning up their noses at me every time i took a divot out of their lovely course. or they could see me down in one of the gullies off the tee. or i walked onto their fairway to hit back onto mine, which happened quite a lot haha. worst one was when i hit a huge hook and ended up on the fringe of another green. then tried for the glory shot over the trees, but ended up taking the biggest divot ever, spraying grass and dirt all over the green where two other guys were putting. and hitting the trees about 10m in front of me.
it was about then when i realised that i had forgotten to grab a sand bucket. needless to say i have never played a punch shot back onto my fairway quicker than that moment. I think i ended up with a 9 in the end. On the third i think it was.
