Either team under 15...... If only I backed it.

Both of us would be smashed in a final, would rather not make it

True jimmy, but hope is better than no hope at all, especially if you want players to commit long term.
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Hird atleast had us winning.
Thompson is useless, plays guys out of position constantly, team selection is a joke and he just sits on his hands all game.
Fine to sit all smug and content in the box when your winning but when you are losing I want to punch him in the mouth

Fancy a Norwood supporter saying this. In 1984 we were 3-6 and miles off it. Yeah, I don't think either side could win the flag but in every final the pressure goes up and you need to get finals into younger players.

I'd rather see us make the eight thanks,

Final 5 is differant, neutral grounds aswell.
In this current setup there is absolutely no hope of 7th or 8th ever making a GF let alone win it. Id rather us put the cue in the rack and start playing kids instead of hasbeens like Chapman

I realise this Jim. My point is that when you put the cue in the Rack you lose that winning culture. I want to know that the Cats are out there trying to win every match. You can play the kids when finals are off the agenda. I reckon Carlton put the cue in the rack and they lost that winning culture that they had during the last century. They may never get that back.

Putting the cue in the rack is bullshit. I'd rather Murdoch, Horlin-Smith, Guthrie, Kersten and Simpson played in a final. Win or lose.

At this point of the season we are better off playing all the kids and see how they go even if it sacrifices wins.
Id rather not win another game for the season and give 7 or 8 kids a go than play old guys for maybe a couple of more wins at best

Carlton lost that culture because paying blokes under the counter became frowned upon.

And the culture terminology is bullshit. These cultures last a max 8-10 years and then you are back to square 1 and are scrubbers again (unless you get an allowance to compensate). You either got the cattle or you don't and that cattle needs to have desire to win the thing.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Something that is bullshit lasts for eight to ten years? Youve just contradicted yourself. Carlton tanked and thought they could just switch it back on. When they did have a reasonable side again they couldn't even make a prelim. I disagree with you Kooka, I think there is plenty in the concept of a winning culture in Football and I believe all clubs at all levels try to attain it.

I agree REB, there's also instances where culture impedes progress too .. St Kilda and Richmond always come to mind over the last 30 odd years. To be fair to the Saints, they were beaten in the biggy by 2 pretty exceptional sides, but prior to that they were more a night club than footy club.
