I was fine at the footy, had a few beers.....but the CC and Dry upon arrival home off the train might just have been the kicker.

Has anyone driven from Sydney to Newcastle? We're looking into visiting family, but I dont really want to get the train up there with our luggage.

Hiring a car works out cheap as well.

Just wondering how easy it is to follow directions there? And roughly how long it takes. I dont trust Google maps trip time estimations

My little bro was living there too until 2 weeks ago.

He says the drive is pretty easy and cruisy - and the train is annoying because it's not express and stops everywhere.

Driving takes around 2 -2 1/2 hours, depending on traffic and whether you avoid the tolls to get onto the Pacific Motorway.

I don't blame you for not trusting google maps, I think the yanks base it on doing about 70kph

Actually, someone wrote into work yesterday complaining about the very same thing

Cool. Yeah the missus's brother lives there, so we're thinking about going up and surprising him coz he went up there for uni and doesnt know anyone.

I enjoy driving too, so 2 hours should go pretty quickly. Might even drive over the bridge and shit, just to say I have. ;)

Well FC could write an article in the next edition of the members magazine alerting them to the fact that the travel times given could not be very accurate ;)

Just in case any readers get the wrong idea: I have met Booney, and I can testify that he is in fact NOT a sheep on the edge of a cliff in New Zealand.
