I think Admire had a heap left in the tank. For mine Lucia got too far back and would need to be closer, although it will be at Flemington so the straight might work in its favour.

A week or so ago I backed Fawkner. Between the three, I hope to get the trifecta!

I've been backing Fawkner for 3 years now and the thing is a sensation.
Was poorly ridden last year in the MC.
Only comes out once a year for a reason and I'm a little disappointed the Cox is it's main aim this year.
Listened to TAB radio today but I can't remember who was analysing things.
Fawkner was 2.3 seconds quicker than any of the front runners from the Caufield at its last start.
Would love to see Fawkner win the MC.

The 3rd horse might have a different opinion.
Watch the race again if you can.

x2 finished the faster horse, yeah?

Not really surprising considering Lucia Valentina carried 5kg less than Admire Rakti!

Japan horseracing surely has claims to being the strongest in the world. If it wasn't for the quarantine problems brought about by equine flu in 2007 who knows how many Melbourne/Caulfield Cups their horses would have won by now.

Here's some perspective: the great Makybe Diva had two runs in Japan at the peak of her powers and only managed 7th on each occasion!

I love how the Japanese can train a 2400m winner first up

but I did hear that the Japanese invested heavily into European stud horses

seems to be paying off

Your right.
It's amazing how that thing went first up.
Sure will be hard to knock off.

Only saw the cox plate once. Will watch a replay later on.

the remarkable factors for the winner was that it only came out of quarantine a few hours before the race and therefore had not seen the track. Ridden by a jockey who hadnt ridden on the track.

The blistering early pace did set it up for a backmarker to run on.

it was a good ride just to let the horse stay out of trouble out wide

I was on Fawkner who despite knuckling a tad at the start was disappointing as it had every possible chance once the field settled.

The Offer - Sydney cup winner is out of this years Melbourne Cup

Araldo now looks set to run in the Cup - was very keen on its Caulfield cup run and took the punt it would sneak into the field!

Guys, I had an "ok" day on the punt at the Cox Plate Saturday but geez I hate backing anything at Moonee Valley. The track, facilities and atmosphere is excellent, you are very close to the action and from where we were standing you could see the horses bolt around the bend and into the straight.

Only problems - there was no 'good' audio of the races even in Melbourne. We couldn't see the bottom of the big screen, meaning unless you had good vision you couldn't tell where your horse was and they also only showed the Randwick races on the big screen, often AFTER they jumped because they had the sponsors gasbagging on the big screen (again, which you couldn't hear).

I watched the replay Saturday night and Rebel Dane was dead set a good thing beaten. Couldn't get going and then when it did (late) it finished fourth.
