whether or not they did or did not fork out coin for it , Cornes is better suited to focusing on a sport that he knows...

Surely if the point he's making is valid (which IMO it is), it doesn't matter that he's not the biggest fan of soccer? Preferring another sport isn't inconsistent with being disappointed at the snub.

continue to put the sport down, and then have a cry when it doesn't come to your area or city ? um ok then

Again, they're not inconsistent. He prefers Aussie Rules, but this doesn't mean that he doesn't have a point about the Asian Cup. You don't need to love soccer to see that it's unfair that Adelaide misses out.

It's not as if he's comparing the merits of the 4-3-3 with the 4-2-3-1.

Crying over it? F*** me, he has a weekly opinion column and he's devoted it to the Asian Cup this week. Crying doesn't come into it. I'd say writing a column in the paper is as good a way of lobbying the govt as any.

Well I preferred to play Soccer (as Goalie where I didn't need to be able to dribble the ball).
Bores me to tears as a game to watch though...

Used to listen every day

If anything he probably thought his experience in the over 35s meant he could comment more than he probably could but he never hated it. Always said he liked afl more though.
