Re: Southern Football League
Only seven clubs have stand alone under 18 sides. Two of these are surprisingly from clubs with a checkered history of filling junior Saturday sides. I can't help but wonder if there would be a higher rate of clubs fielding stand alone sides if it was an under 17's competition instead of an under 18's competition.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Great start to the season by the ROOS. Three good wins and a nice debut by Luke Panozo with a lazy 15goals

Am I right in saying the vikings never lost to the falcons in Dent's reign? Some good players not selected in the Vikings A-grade squad yesterday.
Have the Wineflies got better or have Cove dropped off the pace that much, only kicked 1 goal in the B -grade as well.

Bit of both from what I saw yesterday. Reynella will be top 2. Cove were quite small out there. The new ruckman Ellison was great!

As far as I know bushpigs haven't ever beaten us since we began playing for Baxter Farrell shield. Hope I got the names right.
Flaggies played well and big changes to HV lineup including new coach - reckon it will take few weeks to settle. Yesterday showed both clubs have picked up quality recruits.
Some of our first pick blokes didn't do much of a preseason so had their first run in the 2s.
On a side note didn't listen to the radio broadcast put did hear they asked to speak to our A grade coach at 1:45.... He was a little busy

Have to agree with you there. Has been a tough time at Cove for Early. Has had to deal with some big exits (Ramsay, Vick & others) last year & an Under 18's that have been a pretty strong grade over the years struggling for numbers of late and hence not many coming thru the system. Will be a tough year for the boys. Full credit to Reynella though, a very good outfit. Was really impressed with how clean their ball use was yesterday. Especially for round 1.

Re: Southern Football League
Yeah, Valleys didn't have their best 22 in the A grade yesterday, but that's their fault alone. Both teams have blokes to come into their respective best "21s" across both games (A's and B's)
Reynella flexing their muscles and beating cove wasn't unexpected was it?
From a few reports the radio commentary had room to improve with some incorrect names and presuming that if two blokes had the same last name they must be related. Bit disappointing that in the cars i was around the day we couldn't even pick up the radio station, maybe something to boost the signal with the van is needed

Re: Southern Football League
Valleys A grade looked like a mosquito fleet, with majority of their goals coming from goals on the run/snaps. Some good players though and their pace will be handy on their home ground.

I was informed about 4500 Friday night at Porties and up the road 1300.

listened on app and they did an alright job on there first crack. Only suggestion i'd have is to give a score update a bit more regular. The casual listener won't hear it for over five minutes. Even after a score they didn't let the listener know the score.
saying that i reckon it's great coverage for the league.

Was very impressed by Flaggies on Saturday right through the grades. A grade side moved the ball really well and other than some poor finishing in front of goal, it would have been a much bigger win. We have a lot of work to do, but it's great to get games into some really young guys who acquitted themselves really well.
No excuses on our part, Flaggies deserved the results they got and all the talk seems to be coming to fruition.

Yeah same with HFL. There is a lot of unhappy people in the hills because of this. Not sure if it's because we have an army base in Woodside that I'm hearing it.

Just meant that many people said Flagstaff had recruited really well and expected they will improve significantly on last year. Early evidence suggests this might be the case. They played a good brand of footy, well coached and drilled and fitness levels were good on a warm day.

Didn't have any issue in 2009 when ANZAC Day also occurred on a Saturday, anyhow we are starting our juniors at 12pm

I didn't even think Ellison was their new ruck!
I think you will find it's the other Mcentee.
But good to see another basketballer turn footballer doing well!
