I'd watch it. It would be my best chance of seeing a black and gold team win this year.

The Pittsburgh Steelers go alright mate ;)

The SANFL requested the match be played with a 3-man interchange bench and the ability for umpires to apply 25-metre penalties as well as 50m ones - rules which obviously apply in SA - but WA knocked it back.

It's a pity they're not allowing the 25m penalty option. It's a sensible rule. I think a 4-man bench is fair enough though given the bigger grounds in Perth.

Is that so they fly via a cessna?

I find it bizarre that the SANFL would hire Graham Cornes as State coach - clearly to generate publicity/interest in the State game - then not bother to ensure that the match is televised into SA. It kind of defeats the purpose.

My guess is they couldn't find a coach and Cornesy happened to bump into Rowey who mentioned they were still looking.....Cornes shows slight interest and a phone call later he has the job...

I hope we win and make a statement. Why would people continuously bag the competition . I understand the league has made some poor decisions, yes I have no time for AFL reserves but get behind your team and the whole competition would be more mature. Good appointment with Cornes too.
I bet if he was appointed Glenelg coach it would be well received.

I always enjoy the State games, always watch (or attend) them and really don't have any issue with Cornes as the coach. I just think that to really 'get behind' the team you need to have it on tv if it is played interstate. Without it being on tv, its really hard to to care that the game is being played.

Looks to be a reasonable strong squad.

As always, there appears to be a number of players who have been chosen based on last year's form rather than anything they have done this season.

Very happy to see Lachlan Mcgregor chosen in the squad and a well-deserved selection. A couple of years ago he was playing country footy after things (somehow) didn't work out with Glenelg. For whatever reason, his form has been exceptional in his second crack at SANFL league footy with the Eagles. Makes you wonder how many other similar young players are playing bush footy who have the talent to make it at SANFL league level.

Surprised?

Personally, I'd welcome any news that Glenelg was re-handing Cornes their top coaching job. I say that from the angle of a partisan 'Dogs fan, so read into it what you will.

I don't really understand the point of these games.

There is little to no interest from media or general public and does anyone really care who wins? I couldn't give a rats.

Given we have all been told how money is tight for the league this seems like an obvious thing to drop to cut costs.

These games aren't for the public, they're for the players and I think that's fair enough.

Aside from the Grand finals, this is my favourite game of the year. I absolutely LOVE it and pray it never stops happening. Gutted it isn't on TV anymore.

Nothing like state pride, wish they'd bring it back at AFL level as well.

Wonder how many SANFL staff and commissioners are being flown over.
