Many of the Mini's kids at all clubs are playing primary school footy on a Saturday morning at schools that are no different or even worse as far as access to facilities and shelter. Using Brighton PS helps with the fixturing not just for Brighton but for visiting clubs so why can't people just be thankful.

A map has also been issued with sites for clubs to pitch marques around the venue and the layout of 4 ovals on the Cove oval
Good luck to all.

Are they only using the footy oval or are they also using the soccer pitch?
Amazed they can fit 4 U/8 size ovals up there!

Remember it is the U8 carnival which is 12 per side this year so I presume smaller ovals than previous.
Every team plays 3 games and that's it. No finals or declared winner. Don't have a problem with that but it makes you wonder why actually bother having an U8 Carnival.
Anyone know how the U10 and U12 Carnivals will be structured?

10's at Hackham same format as the 8's, no finals (what a joke ).
12's at Lonsdale nothing has changed with this one as far as I am aware
SFL
Southern Football League Sub-Juniors South Australia A recent post was deleted for inappropriate content. The question was asked in the post what is the point of having a carnival with no scoring and no finals. The other question that has been asked for several years is why do we hold carnivals with scoring when there are no scores kept during the season. AFL guidelines are no scores are to be kept in competitions for children 12 years and under. Almost every piece of research on the subject finds that the children at that age in the majority do not care about the score, they just want to play and enjoy football with their friends. Scoring tends to have a larger impact on parental behaviour than player's behaviour, how many times has the phrase "they're not playing for sheep stations" been used regarding sub-junior football. The under 8 and under 10 carnivals now give the players the chance to finish their season with 4 games of football on their final day, rather than 3 plus maybe finals for the better teams.

Not jumping into either camp. I can understand some of the concept behind the kick and catch but WHY is it other leagues in Australia can have junior scores ladders and finals, and they have not lost AFL affiliation or funding but the SFL trots out the old chestnut AFL guidelines?
At least a competitive carnival should be held at the end of the year, after all the kids keep score.
