Meanwhile crowds are up at grassroots footy, is there any need for the SANFL anymore?
Dutch, wash your mouth out! Where else will the AFL Reserves play? Ammos?

yep, because spending a couple of minutes checking your sides team before the game (because of the dearth of info now in the paper, and who would buy that anyway?) and then another minute sunday evening checking the results is really putting money in the clubs coffers. it is by far the best indicator of the health of the competition.....

The 1536 at Alberton is the lowest ever crowd there apart from a couple of estimated attendances in 1903 and 1945; record before was 1,777 for Port vs Glenelg, Rd 15 2002; Port vs Central was some 1011 more in this match: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36511
The 1134 is the lowest attendance at Prospect between North and Glenelg apart from three estimated figures and the 2nd lowest actual figure overall behind 1122 at this match: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29686
The 1534 at Richmond is the lowest attendance between West and Sturt; previous lowest was 1536 in Round 17 1993
There have only been six lower attendances at Norwood; four of them were estimated attendances.
Spelly, have we ever had a round before when every match failed to get above 2,000?
Does this round come close to the worst aggregate of all time?
I would have got counted twice when I went out and moved my car and came back in with an actual ticket rather than a pass out after having my season pass marked when i first entered the ground....
Still better atmosphere than the SFL.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
someone with twitter needs to point out to Casey that the figures he is quoting to show that there are 5 clubs whose attendances have increased are two weeks old. since they were calculated we have had two terrible weeks for crowds which would change those results........
by my quick math, Centrals are now down 54 supporters on average compared to last year. i dare say Sturt and maybe South would also drop below even too if i could be arsed doing the math for them too. suddenly its only 2 teams with higher attendances this year (if not more)
not picking on centrals btw, they were just the "closest" to break even so i used them to make my point.
ok, another edit: My math may be wrong, but it looks that after the last two weeks, the only side currently attracting more supporters than last season is West, with an average of a whole extra 35 people going to their games. good work Casey for using outdated numbers to try to prove your point.....

There's been others before; Round 20 2013 was the last
As an average I believe Round 23 2005 is the lowest - 1373; this round was 1424.
Over the past 5 weeks (or 21 matches), four of those have been above 2000:
Rd 13: 2,163 Norwood vs Port @ Norwood Rd 14: 2,272 Eagles vs Port @ Woodville Rd 15: 2,581 Glenelg vs Eagles @ Glenelg Rd 15: 2,440 Sturt vs Port @ Unley
And the top two as previously been pointed out were lowest crowds between the clubs at that venue.

I think we've passed the tipping point now. Poor crowds further detract from the competition, creating a self feeding cycle of diminishing crowds, diminishing atmosphere. If the AFL sides eventually piss off and take their cash incentives with them, we will be without crowds and the monetary benefit. Could we be facing a future where the competition becomes impoverished by these two mockingbirds before they fly the nest leaving a mere shadow of the comp the SANFL once was?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail 1915, 1919, 1926, 1932, 1940, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1976, 2002, 2016, 2017
As the crowds diminish it makes you wonder who is hanging about. This weekend watching the game against Sturt on a sparse terrace, some of the crap coming out of the mouth of one individual all game very loudly, would have been laughed down from our own.

Have heard a couple of ads to promote the game on 7mate but not much other talk or promotion of the game. Pretty poor timeslot, cant see there being a huge crowd

North and Norwoods Under 18s played last Saturday. I think you'll find its Norwood v West in the Under 18s match tonight. Stupid fixture.

It is your home away from home after all.

Can't see a game fred anywhere so 2,336 for last nights Norwood/North game.
