Well my friend UK fan, is it not a case then of Thomas selling his soul for $$$. Cant blame him as the dollar and greed gets us all at least once in life.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

If Thomas wanted to continue playing he could have told the Crows no thanks

Thomas could play for the crows reserves couldn't he? Roy wants him to keep playing, problem solved.

No, that role has been scrapped by the SANFL clubs I believe.

So now Thomas had allegedly committed to Centrals . Interesting, so he has done the dirty on the club that served him well but Laird is blaming others again. Ceeennnntrallllllllllls. Not such a happy team at Centrals.

Thats why guys like Gordon stand out in our comp but do nothing at AFL level. He isn't AFL standard. The AFL & SANFL have got this all wrong. Draft them at 20 , raise the SANFL salary cap significantly. Everyone wins. We see our young guns for a few years , our comp gets stronger. Then they are AFL ready to go in the first season as they have had the work put into them with strength and size and have been playing against mature bodies. It probably turns out cheaper for AFL clubs .
Been saying it for years lift the draft age let players mature in the SANFL & WAFL, let them get their Uni degrees etc then play in the AFL might get players from other states then wanting to get looked at by playing in the best two comps in the land outside of the AFL.
Works well in the USA, finish college get your degree play college football and get drafted makes sense to me!!!
You aren't required to finish college...can come out whenever you like.
Carn the blues!!!!!

I heard that he wouldn't return to the Bay. I have been told that a couple of other clubs are interested.
Time will tell.

On the draft age.
I don't think you could stop it legally.
Restraint of trade,
you can sign a contact at 18 so that must be time when footy contracts get started.
IMHO it would only take one 18 yo to say ,no thanks I'm not waiting any longer, test it legally and win then any 20 year old draft plan would collapse.

Re: SANFL Player Movements - 2015 / 2016
I don't have a problem in the world with someone making the best decisions for themselves, especially with employment. With footy people turn into a bunch of whinging hypocrites. They'll jump to a new job for a few thousand more but hate footballers doing the same for much more money. Perhaps the timing and communication was poor, but sometimes you don't get to handle everything perfectly.
Doesn't mean it's not a bitter blow. Club captain, legend of the club with a swag of medals to his name and coming off a really good season is a big blow to the on field side. We were just rebuilding and links to the premiership sides were alread waning. Just another guy gone for the young blokes to learn how it's done. Also cuts short my silly hopes of watching an SANFL player register 300 for the one club. Been a long time and hard to see the next one.
Regardless, I wish Thommo all the best. But the club will move forward.
If, however, this means somehow that he is allowed to play against us my next post on the issue will be a bit less level headed.

Pretty hypocritical from Laird, havnt Centrals just poached Nuri's A Grade premiership coach who may or may not have been under contract?

And if the coach in question wasn't an applicant but asked to take the job ?

A bit like how Hawthorn poached an under contract head coach of Sturt, Rick Macgowan at the end of 2008.
From Adelaide now website:
"Reluctant to let the double blues down, Macgowan finally buckled after Clarkson continued to pursue his services this month."
"Alastair's a very aggressive man and I said to him: 'Can you wait two years'?," Macgowan said last night.
"Because I feel the job hasn't been done here and I was very disappointed this year.
"But he said he's not going to ask me three times so I had to take it. It's very hard because you get attached to the players and it's a hell of a lot harder leaving a group of players as a coach compared to when you're a player.
"I can see so much potential in the next two years here (Sturt) so it's really hard."
I wonder how that fits in with the above debate on morals? Sturt were headed in a very positive direction under Macgowan, and all he wanted was 2 more years, yet was contacted then pressured by Clarkson and presented with the ultimatum, come now on not at all, heedless of the fact the man he was speaking to was under contract, happy, and planning a premiership assault.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

It actually looks like the Crows might have the moral high ground on both Centrals and the Hawks then. I dont think Thomas was contracted was he whereas the other 2 mentioned were?
