Yes, that is confirmed. Largely a well known secret! SC chose this option in preference to C grade which would have been forced upon them due to their junior situation. Unfortunately the club started a long way back for many reasons, some internal and some external. While there was hope with the seniors, getting kids back was difficult when their only prospects were heavy defeats each week. The club have a lot of little ones now that are just starting out, so the U14 grading in Independents will appeal. Lastly some bouquets for a few clubs. Kersbrook really are the good guys of the comp, always supportive. Meadows have always been good, Maccy, and to a lesser extent Gums and Kangarilla have been positive too. Brickbats to Birdwood for not seeing the bigger picture, and Echunga - we all know who! All the best though to everyone for 2016.

Not seeing the bigger picture??? You've said on your own facebook page that Riv Indys is much better suited to your needs - that is exactly what we've been trying to say!!
If you continued on the way you were going, SC would've ended up folding, which is what none of the HFL clubs wanted. We just wanted you to play in a league/div more suited to your club.
Not having any juniors coming through to fill senior grades was always going to make it too difficult for you to compete in a relatively strong div 2 comp.
Best of luck in Indys - I sincerely hope you have some success and enjoyment.

Good little uneducated post there daysof!
I'm pretty sure we'll be filling all junior grades again this year like we have for as long as I can remember.
And no doubt we'll lose some kids this year, and we'll gain some and we'll have some teams strong with numbers and some low on numbers - that's standard every year for most country clubs.

As for throwing stones :? do you mean by suggesting that a club play in a more suited league/div instead of folding???

Only 40 days until Round 1 of the 2016 season all clubs seem to be shaping up well. Are there many trail games in the works for the coming weeks?

Going off the clearance website Birdwood seem to have had a large number of players leave but also seems to have balanced that with a fair few new recruits can anyone comment on the quality of these ins?

Nairne seems to have recruited well going off the site also, however may have lost Wade Hancock to SANFL (does anyone know how he is tracking down there? likley to get a game?) and also Luke Murphy to VIC.

Meadows seem to have a few in's not too many outs... seem to have been pretty quiet over the summer will they improve or still see them finishing outside the 5?

Maccy - Seem to be similar to Meadows will they be around the mark again this year?

Kersbrook - Have lost Ebert, and only a handful always a class act with a well managed list and perform come September. Will be around the mark again, are they being quiet on a few other recruits which are not coming up on the clearances yet???

Kangarilla - A few coming in on the clearance page, depends on the quality of these recruits as to how they improve, hope they are able to improve for the betterment of the competition.

Gumeracha - have a few pending clearances and one denied does anyone see Gumeracha breaking into the top 5 this season.

Bridgewater - Topped up on a few players and will be pretty disappointed with how they finished their impressive season last year and will be the ones to beat this year...

Predictions for the year ahead:

Bridgewater
Kersbrook
Nairne B
Meadows
Macclesfield

Birdwood
Gumeracha
Kangarilla

Was thinking the same so yes to the four. It would also allow the league to run both comps together round 1 then 2 etc on the same weekend thro out the minor round. Start the finals together with Div 2 finishing a week earlier 3 weeks to 4 so keep the G/Fs apart.

Early thoughts that Bridgewater, NB and Kersbrook for the top 3, Meadows, Birdwood and Maccy fighting for the five. Gums and Kangarilla have a lot of ground to cover to make the finals.

I may be bias here but it should and will stay at 5 i have 2 reasons

1. The money the comp gets from the extra final pretty self explanatory really!

2. An extra team making finals i think long term is better for the lower clubs, recruiting players improve these teams and the league in general is alot easier when you make finals!

I'll be surprised if Birdwood are outside the 5. Yes they have lost some good players but the players they've picked up should cover these (not all clearances have been submitted yet).
It's great to see a few past snr colt premiership players return to the club to play seniors. Cunningham, Forward and Wheeler all back at Birdwood and should be good inclusions into the seniors.

My tips:
Bridgey to take the flag - I think they would've learnt a lot from last year plus a few ins will add to their depth.
Kersy to be around that top 3 again despite losing Ebert.
Nairne generally have good depth but have lost a couple of key players so will be interesting to see if they drop down or could finally live up to their potential and make the next step up.
Birdwood will be up there but may be a small step from the top 3 but too good to be out of the 5.
Maccy just over Meadows just purely on Meadows losing a couple of good players.
Meadows
Gum have picked up a couple but are coming from a long way back and don't have a lot of depth.
Kangy are similar to Gum. Hopefully both clubs improve their depth and pick up some more quality A graders which make them more competitive against the top sides.

Have heard that brett randell is returning to gumeracha from kersbrook? Would be a great pick up for gumeracha getting a local lad back if it is true.
