I can understand their anger, Palentino was a multi killer for a lot of people. I actually backed Terravista, but mastered Chautaqua in the Tri so still worked out alright for me. Only saw the conclusion of the race from a distance, and whilst Chautaqua is clearly the superior horse, Terravista should have won. Olly mishandling the whip would have cost it more than the 3 inches it lost by.

Don't think there would be any jockey with a better record than Craig Williams at pleading their case to stewards.

How the race got taken off Palentino amazes me. Got past, came back and beat it.

Obviously I'm biased because I had Palentino but I said exactly the same thing. It was done and dusted at the 150 yet came back and won. Tivaci had every chance to win and didn't.

Doesn't Sportsbet pay 1st past the post anyway, regardless of the Protest?
Apart from the Top Tote Dividends & also the Cash Out option, this reason alone should stop punters from betting with the TAB???
I know Ladbrokes don't pay 'Protest Payout' but Sportsbet still do, don't they?
FWIW, I struggle to see how alleged interference @ the 900m mark had a marked impact on the result of the race.
As for Oliver's error, don't think he'll get another ride for Joe Pride in a hurry, if Joe's Tweets are anything to go by!

Yeah they do LPH, but not when its a leg of a multi .. There were some fair casualties on the weekend when Palentino didn't salute. That's punting though, probably worked for some that had Tivaci in multiples so swings and roundabouts I guess.

Warrnambool r3 clashed with hawkesbury who were running late.

Hey Lads, Autumn Carnival heats up tomorrow - 3 x G1's in Melbourne, & the Chipping Norton in Sydney :D
Winx just wins the C.N. Stakes doesn't she?

Reckon JK won't be surprised when I say I'm backing Stratum Star in the Futurity.
22 starts for 15 Placings; 6 of those @ the distance, 5 @ the Track including 3 wins, 75% Placing 2nd Up, 2 wins & a 3rd from 4 starts Track/Distance.
Has a better Gate than the other Weir runner but I think the better Jockey is on the other one - that said, Zahra is no 'mug'.
Happy to take the $15 & $4.20 on offer - think he'll run Top 5 for sure.
Danger? Last year's winner could well do it again, Suavito - great 1st Up & its record is better than Stratum Star.

Blue Diamond? We haven't had a 'roughy' win the Diamond for a few years, I think - can't recall since Hayes' runner a few years back, Reaan (wasn't it about 15/1?) Might be time for an upset, perhaps? Heard Hayes talking about his Filly 'Zimzam', he reckoned it was his best chance & to disregard the previous run. At the price, I'll take her the PLACE I think. BTW, it appears there's been Money for the Hawkes runner 'Star Turn' - might be worth an E/Way Ticket too.

The Oakleigh Plate often throws up a good priced winner. I backed Shamal Wind last year & also Miss Onasis (@ $26) 3 yrs ago, so I love this race :D
Atmospherical ran 3rd in this race last year, she's some hope from the Gate. I think 'Fast n Rocking' is an under rated Horse, wouldn't surprise to see him win. The Top Weight will be in it for a long way, too. That said, I reckon they'll be 'flying' up front in this race, so its likely (like last year) that the winner will be finishing over the top of them - 'The Quarterback' could be the one. Gunna back BOTH No 1 & No. 11 E/Way, plus a Box Trifecta: 1, 3, 8, 10,11, 12.

Happy Punting Boys :D

THAT, my friends, was a GOOD Day on the punt! :D
Hope you managed to back any (or all) of those 3!!!
$4.20 PLACE Stratum Star.
$6.50 PLACE ZimZam.
$31.50 (Best TOTE) & $7 Flamburge.
Winx was the worst price, $1.40 - but didn't she win well?

Last week was good but I hate Post Mortems, particularly "On the Punt"!
So we go back to 'Headquarters' in Melbourne for the next couple of weeks & the Sydney Carnival begins in earnest, this week.
Before I talk about tomorrow, I LOVED the run of Our Ivanhoe last week - had no luck whatsoever in the final furlong.
I took the $13 on offer last Sunday for the Australian Cup - now into $9 on Sportsbet. You'll get better tomorrow night, I reckon.
Top 5 Runner in Aussie Cup - for sure. 8)

So to tomorrow:

Australian Guineas - Like The Derby winner Tarzino, price has come in since last night's $8.50 & & 2.80, but his last run was full of merit & happy to bet against the fav. Mahuta is a very interesting runner & to get $9 & $3 for a horse that has won its last 6 starts is very tempting.
The Oaks winner, Jameka, is silly odds IMHO & 2 other roughies worth thought are 7 & 16.
Happy to back The Derby winner to beat the Oaks winner. Reckon the Trifecta will pay well, too. Box Trifecta: 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 16

Like one in Race 3 - Top Weight; Afleet Esprit - Hasn't Hayes come good in the last 12 - 18 months? He's well & truely on his way back to the summit of Victorian Racing & although Weir is still No. 1, I think Hayes will have more Group Winners by the end of the season, considering he has runners in Sydney as well... The Horse has a good record down the straight @ Flemington & at the price of $9, I'm happy to take on the fav. The $2.50 on offer for the PLACE is 'sweet' considering the fav is Odds On.

Randwick Guineas - every pundit suggests this is a certain winner, Press Statement. Is it the right price? Not for me. 9/4 On is too short IMHO. If it were $1.80, I'd consider backing it but $1.40 was what Winx paid last week & Press Statement is no Winx! Happy to watch the race & hope my 'Star Stable' runner, Stay with Me, runs well 8)

I think Calliope can win the Reisling, its better than its last run & 2/1 isn't a bad price, although $3.30 would be better.
In Race 3 I am backing Loophole. Tommy Berry has an amazing record when he rides a Waller Horse. From memory its about a 30+ % WIN rate. This is the only ride he has for Waller tomorrow. Loophole is $11 & $3.10 with Ladbrokes @ the Moment ($11 & $2.80 on Sportsbet, $11 & $2.95 with UBET), I'll take him 1 unit by 3 units.

Enjoy the Day in front of the TV, Lads :D
