Head off next week for 10 days in Poland then a 10 day tour of London, Paris and Rome...

First ever overseas trip and pretty excited. Any advice, hints or tips to take on board?

Hey mate, what dates are you in each place? I'll be in Rome, Paris, London and Poland (krakow) all at some point within the next 2 weeks.

I'm in Poland from August 1st through to about the `0th, then London the next 4 days, then Paris 3 days, then Rome the last 3 days after that...

Leave Adelaide next Wednesday 31st August and arrive back in Oz on Thursday August 22nd, just in time for SANFL finals

If you plan on going up the Eiffel Tower, then there's two ways.
First is lift/lift (top price, longer queues) or stairs/lift (cheaper, shorter queues).
Obviously it'll depend on the weather/time of day for numbers.
The Louvre is massive and you should allow plenty of time if you plan to visit.

The Vatican is in Rome of course and worth a visit (even for the non-religious).
You can climb to the top of St Peter's Basilica if inclined (stairs only!).
Expect it to be very crowded in places.

I didn't think that much of Rome itself apart from the ancient monuments such as the Pantheon and the Colosseum (to be fair, my stay was brief)

The Tower of London is loaded with history.
Go on one of the regular Beefeater led tours (free once inside).
I did a 3 hr bike tour of London which wasn't bad (also in Paris).

In general it can be better buying tickets online to avoid queues and to get slight discounts.

Sounds a cracking trip mate, I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast.

I leave Poland on the 1st so that won't work, but I'll be in London on Wednesday the 14th for the England vs Scotland match and the opening weekend of premier league fixtures, so if you're free that afternoon and fancy a pint up town let me know.

My brother has much the same plans as you in that he leaves Adelaide in a few hours time to come over, but is heading back on the 26th of August in time to catch the finals. Unfortunately I won't be back out for them this season, though if we somehow scrape into a GF I might break the bank and get out for a few days.

Heading to Europe for 3 weeks tomorrow. Mostly Germany to see family. Didn't see much of Germany last time I went except for the inside of Oktoberfest tents so looking forward to it. Both myself and the mrs are feeling a bit crook so this flight is gonna suck but after that it should be fine

Did a 2 day tour with a French company about 10 years ago. Absolute moving experience, plenty of local companies arrange tours all with English speaking guides and modern comforts. Wasn't too badly priced either

Just got back from 7 weeks over there.

Agree with whufc, Bruges was gorgeous. Lucerne was nice but just a place to stay to climb the Alps. Had a Christmas morning at the Berlin Wall, finished with Christmas Night at an amazing bar in Prague. New Years Eve spent with longnecks at the Colossuem in Rome with fireworks on the ground and in the sky. Amazing.

Barcelona is the pick of what I visited though.

I'm resting up in Ronda again today after similar experiences yesterday .
Visited myself on Gibraltar for an afternoon accommodating Marbella and Malaga on the way down, and Gaucin on the way back.
Also found the original Los Angeles up in the mountains...

Just booked flights back for December. Doing a big lap of the UK and Ireland as we didn't get out of London last year, heading up to Iceland to chase the Northern Lights, and doing Austria and Hungary before heading home.

We're leaving Adelaide in December and flying intonRome for a week, then into the UK for 4 weeks then France for another week and back home from there...

Can't wait to go...

Looking forward to seeing Pompeii, the Vatican and the usual sights in Rome.

Then visiting family in ghe UK and getting to a Bradford City, Aston Villa and a Liverpool game.
