I heard a whisper they were closing Little Para Par 3, would be a shame, I used to like going there for a hit after work from time to time!

Thought I would weigh in on this one.

I play Ping I3 irons. Had them for a long time now, I got fitted at what was the old Pete's. IIRC these were the first set he sold here in SA, as they had just come out to replace the old ping zings. I carry 3 iron through to PW, I added a Gap Wedge a few years after. My Sand Iron is a 56 degree Cleveland.

Taylor Made R5 Driver - also getting fairly old now, similar vintage to the irons I think. 8.5 degree, with stiff carbon fibre shaft. I like it, best driver I've ever had. A few drivers got sinned binned, but this one has stood the test of time. I carry a cobra strong 3 wood - 13 degrees, on its day, best club in the bag. Recently added a Taylor made rescue with 18 degrees (at the expense of the ping 2 iron)..... Got it second hand through a mate. Taken me a few rounds to get it working and its now a club I hit regularly.

Putter is a Ping Darby/Derby... whatever, had it for ages.... custom fitted with an inch longer shaft, as I like to stand up a bit taller when I putt.... Not that it helps me much.

Been using the Srixon Q Star balls of late. Decent mid range to cheaper ball. Soft enough around the greens for me, and they don't scuff up too much when I blast them into the effen trees!

I'm a true golf hack. But I love equipment and watch hours of YouTube reviews on clubs, even though I'm not gonna upgrade from all my game improvement gear anytime soon, due to both lack of skill and $$

But, I play a Ping G20 Driver, 10.5 degree, straight off the rack. Probably could/should get a stiffer shaft/lower loft. But it still does the trick. Although I haven't played much lately so when I do it's been bad. But those couple I still nail every round make me get it out whenever possible.

Taylormade RBZ2, 3 hybrid - good little club. Haven't played too many rounds with it. But it's awesome out of the trees where my driver usually puts me :) and I don't have a 3 wood, so I hit this off the tee quite a bit. Hit it well and long enough off that I haven't bothered to get something in between this and driver.

Ping G20 Irons 4-SW - given I used to play a mates near 20 year old el cheapo set. Once I got a decent set of irons I immediately got a fair bit better with my Iron play, even while getting used to them. Love em. Really forgiving and the lofts are dialed up a fair bit I'd say, cos it feels like I hit em a mile.

My favourite and now most controversial club however is my putter. Use an Odyssey Metal X D.A.R.T Long putter. Absolutely love it. I know they're banned now on tour and all that. But **** it, broomsticks ftw! Makes me feel so much more confident on any putt within 2-3m.

^ you have some decent equipment there Jacko... Better than a few regular golfers I know. As for the broomstick putter.... Played with a guy once who had one. He putted like shit with it... He must have been absolutely shithouse with a regular wand!

if it wasn't with my illegal club, it'd be with my superior golfing ability. So either way it's a loss for him.

Not illegal for amateurs provided the stroke is not anchored to the chest.....I think, will have to consult the rule book ;)

just throw one at him should be fine.......

My old man has always hated them even when Peter Senior was the only bloke using them on tour.....I've threatened for years to buy one just to piss him off....

Ok good stat... I will re-phrase my comment to - Adam Scott had to change from a broomstick (insert don't anchor it here) to a regular putter and had a few early season wins....

more reason to bring back the broomsticks.
Clearly wasn't cheating when he's better at putting without it.

Whatever does it for you jakovasaurus.... At an amateur level, we should be able to use whatever we like, pretty much. If anyone reckons they go better with a broomstick, that's fine by me. My putting is awful.... it really, honestly is.... But I have resisted the broomstick. No plans to change that any time soon.
