Sloane, like Shuey have been much improved players in the last 12 months.

Shuey ain't close to Sloane.
One's hard at it, the other is well... let's just say IMO isn't.

Forget Shuey if you're looking for marshmallow midfielders, his mate Gaff is the business.

In 14 matches this year the midfielder has laid 15 tackles, in his 124 games he's laid 224 tackles.

To put this in perspective, Andrew Swallow has laid 113 tackles in 14 games this year.

I've been onto Gaff tackling numbers for some time. Its a staggering number considering Priddis had 9 at half time on Sun. Also doesn't help when Jetta,Lecras and Josh Hill all have the same tackling endeavour as Gaff. Probably why WC are where they are.

Not sure Gaff deserves much criticism. No he doesn't tackle much but that's not his go. They got to the GF with him last year helicopter.

Simpson said this of him earlier in the year re the Jonas incident

Simpson lauded Gaff’s bravery and said he was “one of the tougher players’’ he had coached.

“I know he’s an outside player and he gets a lot of uncontested ball, but he’s got the games record in a row at the football club, he plays sore all the time and he never takes his eyes off the ball,’’ he said.

“It doesn’t surprise me he didn’t again.’’

Yeah I know. Extremely hard runner, and doesn't baulk at the contest. It's ok to have a bloke that doesnt tackle when he gets as much of it as Gaff, but WC have 5 of them that don't tackle and 4 of them get nowhere near the amount ball Gaff does.

Is he soft or is he playing to instruction!

No doubt the coaches would have seen those numbers and obviously don't see it as a major issue.

That's because he is second to the ball so often.

I'd argue that. Coons was sensational the year he won it.

I've yet to come across someone winning one of these awards without having a great year. Sure, some have been average in previous or subsequent years, but that's completely irrelevant.

Woewoedin obviously didn't have the standout career many expected but I think you'll find he had an excellent year when he won it.

Danger has had the Brownlow wrapped up for a while now so Sloane getting suspended doesn't effect this.

Danger will probably win it, but he certainly hasn't been the best
