I've offered the PLCA a solution to the problem at Centenary. If they don't act on it they would be stupid to say the least. Will be interesting to see if I get a response.

I find all this talk about the state of the turf pitch at centenary bemusing to say the least and the criticism of the 'curator' unjust. Firstly I cannot understand whay you still have a turf wicket. Costly to maintain and at the mercy of the elements and not to mention water restrictions in this area. The cost factor would be the reason snuffy is entrusted with looking after it, and I can imagine the huge fee he is getting to do this. Move over Les Burdett!!! How many games a year get transferred due to weather / unplayable pitch???
With an active participation level of less than 200 each week, the PLCA is really a minor player in Port Lincoln sport....surely doesn't justify the cost...only satisfies the ego. How many turf pitches are there on the EP?
Surely technology has advanced to a degree where a drop in type pitch can be acquired that suits all styles of game...no one really enjoys watching a game on a dodgy deck. Might cost a bit but given reduction in ongoing costs would probably be easy to justify in the medium term.
Another benefit or removing the pitch at centenary would be getting rid of that black crap hole from the middle that causes so much problems during the footy season. Given that footy has an active weekly participation rate of nearly 800 I would have thought this would be a good thing...hell they might even pitch in to help!!!

Can't see it happening BTB, everyone's too busy paying the bags out of those who do get up & do something rather than offering to help themselves. After the swamp Centenary was on friday A-Grade hendo team should be thankfull they play there at all.

They really like keeping the pitch btb, they say it gives juniors a good experience. It has become a major hassle and from what I saw it did a fair bit. I think Wudinna still have a turf pitch, can anyone confirm.
Now eags you have had a crack at the association and it is similar to the Darren Lehman case, you should face disiplinary actions for your comments against the association and its staff. Maybe a match suspension?
The new pitch on Saturday was brought up too early but I nheard he didnt have a choice, WF definatly puts in the hours and deserves encouragement not being told what to do, although at times he is not the easiest person to approach. I agree with rm- I am just glad LF keeps making those Ham and Salad rolls - they will do me any day!

Yeah agree that low scores arent good for the game, but that mainly has to do with the talent going around aswell!
It will be an interesting PLCA meeting next Tues. It is time to have our say there not on here!
What would you back at those odds on PL Cup btb? Yarterbery $16, dont get that too often? Dorados $51 will do me!
Biggles havent seen you at training for a while, In fact I havent seen anyone at training for a while. Numbers a little down but we will get there, Hows everyone else going for numbers?

Here's my market:
1 ABOVE ALL Len Smith $11
2 DANCING IMAGE Jenny Gow-Whyte $11
3 DORADOS Herbert Oats $26
4 FLINDERS' DREAM Julie Branford $26
5 FREAK OUT Herbert Oats $16
6 GUERNICA Gary Curtis $7
7 LINCOLN SEA Ross Lyons $8
8 LORD VASEY Byron J Cozamanis $26
9 MAPUA (NZ) George Dawson $11
10 NEW PLANET (NZ) Barry Dunn $9
11 ODYSSEUS Jenny Gow-Whyte $10
12 PATARCHIE Steve Paynter $5
13 SANDVIEW Darryl Carrison $16
14 SHANICITY (NZ) Simon Drewitt $51
15 YARTERBERY Darryl Carrison $9
Think Patarchie on Adelaide form will be very hard to beat. KI Cup form is also a prety good lead here with New Planet. Think if Guernica draws he will give a big sight..probably the best of the locals. Yarterbery is a hard one, but if he runs up to his win 2 starts ago in pretty good time...who knows. I do know he doesn't want to find any trouble tho....BTW what happened to Making the Road???

suck suck Nighter.... whitenight = Stevie.
The boys are just commenting that it aint up to scratch.... The new pitches arent ready, are soft and should be kept till next season!
Reidy should get banned from baseball this week as well.... Only coz we are playing them!!!
Did cause a bit of fury with the older cricketing fraternity that decision by Craig, Im sure in hinds sight he would do things differently.
What are your tipd for the baseball GFs this week haloman? Shiels all 3 as usual or can the impossible happen and we loose? Which grade would you say are most vulnerable?
Is the Tuesday a good meeting to go to or do you just go to the Cup on Thurday and get plastered?

Shields are the complete professionals expect a close game but the knowledge to shine through. Shields 10 runs to 6. BGrade 'as above'. And a trouncing in the juniors in a league of their own. Wheres the Party this year? Could we end up back on the hill at Hajes place, what do ya reckon mav?
Haje - big week, Baseball GF, Lincoln Cup favourite, and someone said there may be another announcment to come? Care to give safooty the scoop?
mav - whitenight is not Liam Knight or Steve Heaven

Everyone has a chance to have their say at the meeting next Tuesday, if you do it on here and dont do it then I call you a coward! Eags you have gone about this the right way, backing up your comments on here with a letter to the assoc. Maybe we should all right letters and then maybe something will be done.
Heaven is umpiring thew main game this weekend 1 v 2... and is the best umpire in PL ... get off his case... how many of you will umpire when you retire?
It annoys me the guys who mouth off on here and dont say BOO at the meetings!
Anyway enough from me I will see you all next Tuesday!!!

I'm sure Wayne Fielder will accept any constructive advise given to him, but remember eags, this ain't Adelaide, you're in COUNTRY SA now, don't expect the Adelaide Oval pitch every week. As i posted b4, Centenary was a swamp on friday, and Wayne did a BLOODY good job to get it where he did with what he had. Perhaps once you've been here a couple of years you might understand the resrictions that the PLCA is under, (especially financally), until then maybe you should just sit back, watch, listen and LEARN, (if you plan to stay). If not, shut the hell up and stop your bitching, or get off your arse and help since you know sooo much!
