This is a bit like watching mini league, except playing "spot the girl" is too easy. I won't comment about spotting the fat kid...

Half time and bays lead 5.4 to 1.2. The legs comfortable winners in the early game.

3/4 bays 7.4 to 1.3. Bloods to come home with a fair breeze.

Bays win 10.8 to 2.3 , unless the scoreboard attendant has messed up, which is a distinct possibility given his tardiness in updating the scores all night.

Re: SANFL starting women's league in 2017
Back home, and recording a few thoughts before all memory of the game disappears into a somnolent haze:
- Only saw the last half of the early game and didn't pay it too much attention.
- crowd comparable to that of a baseball game. Might have topped 1000, but not much more.
- It appeared that a Bloods player got injured in the opening bounce!
- Skills, particularly kicking, beneath that of a SANFL reserves game, but both teams had good intensity.
- The football smarts are there, particularly for Glenelg, whose players made position and worked as a team all night. Glenelg's second goal was due to some unselfish play and as good as any you'll see.
- umpires very hot on high contact; players ducking into tackles or colliding while bent over were winning free kicks. A lot of what got paid would not have typically been paid in a blokes' match.
- was better to watch than the (admittedly little) womens' AFL I have seen, although this is possibly a factor of being there at the game rather than watching it on the box. It was certainly more entertaining than I was anticipating.

Well done again, Rooster ladies! A top-hole effort indeed.

Re: SANFL starting women's league in 2017
So the State U/18 squad has been named with players picked from the State wide woman's comp ( four clubs in metropolitan Adelaide more like it) yet some off the girls played State U/18's last year selected from Grassroots clubs ...... once again the all mighty SANFL taking all the credit for the hard work grassroots volunteers put in for years .... Always remember SANFL you dumped the women's comp on the Amateur league 3 yrs ago ....
