Lot of bunda to get a runner up ribbon on Saturday...
'Lizbef flag favs.. lock it in..
Not sure about Brahma but I can tell you right now that Fitzroy wouldn't be paying out anywhere near what you people think. I'm sure their pie is just as big as yours and yes the old saying of just wanting to play with your mates can be true.

They were missing plenty today mate. Wedding etc on rd 1 will do that to ya.
Well I hope there was about 20 "Good" players at this wedding
They were missing a bit of top end that's for sure..
I think they will struggle to replace the losses of Cotter, Spurr, Maher, MacPhail, Rossack and Clarke (for most the season). Multiple leading goal kicker, last 3 b&f winners, key recruit from last season and reliable full back all gone in one off season. They will be a young side and as with all transitional periods will experience some pain but also play some very good footy. Couz's game plan will take some time to implement as well, I hope he sticks it out and they come out the other side a better club for it..
FWIW, this is the year Ingle Farm put it altogether imo. Have had stability with the coaching for a few years now, good mix of players who have shown they are up to the grade and can compete against the best sides, just need to put it together at the right time of the year

I deleted the posts and replies to them at the request of the author. Sorry, no special treatment for Houghton, I'd do the same for anyone.
Am i wrong here, but couldn't he just delete his own posts if he was the author ???? And also, deleting the posts about the Houghton coach but leaving a page or 2 about a new Fitzroy player does look a little like special treatment. Hope i don't get a ban for this, it is only an observation.
If the author deletes their post, the post still remains if it's been quoted by another user.
What do you mean about a Fitzroy player? If anyone ever requests that I delete their post and any reference to it, I will.
Feel free to ask questions mate or if you feel that there's prejudice, there isn't with me and I respect every poster on here regardless of what club they represent.
As for the banning, it's a free world and we're all adults here, I'm not one to wave the ban stick.

Hope in future other clubs are afforded the same degree of "help" when their clubs are potentially put under the microscope..

I watched the Elizabeth v TOSers game on Saturday - arrived in time to see Keith Hooker playing again in the B grade. The great man. It's probably not going to be as bleak for Trinity as the scoreboard would indicate. I was told there were 18 players absent for the opening round. Looking at the A grade, there was a large amount of height and experience to come back into the side. That won't lift the TOSers to world-beating status, but they will play better. They have a lot of pace, which they'll need, and were really impressive in that department. They didn't drop their heads and their fitness wasn't too bad. They really do need another forward target other than Lamont. And that could well be where they truly struggle during the season - as I'm not sure any of the returnees can help to fill that void. The scoreboard was ugly, but Couzy does have something to work with and there'll be definite improvement this week.
For Elizabeth, they were really switched on and took advantage of the situation they found themselves in against an undermanned opposition. Dave Rogers has them rolling really nicely, with a good spread of height and speed around the ground. They were working for him, no doubt. Woody and Cotts being back really added something for the Eagles. If Woody can keep up that consistency, he might be a medal threat in 2017. All us old Eagles on the sidelines enjoyed watching these boys play. It's only early, but their spirit and sticking to Dave's game plan will see them do really well this year. We enjoyed Abbott's running, as usual, but really enjoyed that he hit some targets when screaming forward. Great to see Justy Platten play his 250th and bag a few goals. Good on you, little man.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Born and bread southerner now I just get out to watch lower grades in the saafl around the city. Unfortunately my team is the mighty demons maybe this year for us. I did watch the game at mt.fitzroy and reckon had the Lions not had the bloke with the helmet at full forward I think he was the famous Anton Gerardis then they really would have struggled to stay in the game in the first half. Already round 2 is very interesting with fitzroy vs Elizabeth and Salisbury West hosting Pulteney. The other 3 games pretty much pick themselves I reckon.
C'mon Zartan. We all know that you have the engraving tool ready to go for the Div 6 cup. And the premiers shirts are secretly getting designed as we speak

Haha! Nah not quite that ambitious - think Elizabeth and Pulteney look the early sides to beat in both grades, but it is only Rd 1, we will all know more in coming weeks i'm sure.
Despite the lopsided scores on the weekend across both grades, I still think it'll be a tight and tough comp once sides are up and running at full strength - making the 5 will be challenge enough.
