It's probably not going to be as bleak for Trinity as the scoreboard would indicate. I was told there were 18 players absent for the opening round.
Looking at the A grade, there was a large amount of height and experience to come back into the side.
That won't lift the TOSers to world-beating status, but they will play better. They have a lot of pace, which they'll need, and were really impressive in that department. They didn't drop their heads and their fitness wasn't too bad.
They really do need another forward target other than Lamont. And that could well be where they truly struggle during the season - as I'm not sure any of the returnees can help to fill that void.
The scoreboard was ugly, but Couzy does have something to work with and there'll be definite improvement this week.
For Elizabeth, they were really switched on and took advantage of the situation they found themselves in against an undermanned opposition.
Dave Rogers has them rolling really nicely, with a good spread of height and speed around the ground. They were working for him, no doubt.
Woody and Cotts being back really added something for the Eagles. If Woody can keep up that consistency, he might be a medal threat in 2017.
All us old Eagles on the sidelines enjoyed watching these boys play. It's only early, but their spirit and sticking to Dave's game plan will see them do really well this year. We enjoyed Abbott's running, as usual, but really enjoyed that he hit some targets when screaming forward.
Great to see Justy Platten play his 250th and bag a few goals. Good on you, little man.

At first I thought you were quoting your stats haha! Thought geez knew you had a bit of it but didn't think that much - also thought "here we go, another Shaun Holland.. bloke who counts his possessions and DreamTeam points"

Elizabeth seem to be keeping a pretty low profile on here they were competitive last year in Div5 and if they have recruited well they could be sneaking under the radar?

But, Dave is experienced enough to know flags are not won 'because you've come down from div 5' and definitely aren't won in March.

I thought there's been plenty of support for Elizabeth on here, genuine threat.

Think I might try and get down and watch this one. The other game that looks to be a good contest is the Salisbury West taking on Pulteney, SW lost few players this year but looked to have recruited well and they really pushed west Croydon last week.

It will be interesting to see if the WC v SW result reflects more on SW having improved or WC having slipped well back to the pack..

Over the years how much do the sides coming up from 7 to 6 need to improve? I would have thought SW would be competitive with the team they had last year now playing div6
