Re: 2016/17 NBL Season/Off-season news/Boomers
An excellent performance by the 36ers tonight winning the Merlion Cup crown beating the Shanghai Sharks 101-81 in the final. To be fair the Chinese team were missing CBA MVP Jimmer Fredette but still no mercy was shown. For the Sixers Mitch Creek scored 21, Shannon Shorter had 20 and Daniel Johnson 19 and for the Brian Goorjian coached Sharks Nick Minnerath scored 28 and Hanlin Dong had 22. I suspect the club might look back on this tournament in Singapore as perhaps the beginning of something special.
In another pre-season game tonight the Illawarra Hawks beat the Brisbane Bullets 96-92 on the Sunshine Coast. For the Hawks Demitrius Conger scored 23 and Nick Kay had 16 and for the Bullets Perrin Buford scored 21 and Stephen Holt added 19.

In an NBL pre-season game tonight the Perth Wildcats beat the Sydney Kings 88-77 in Mona Vale. For the Wildcats Lucas Walker scored 17 and JP Tokoto had 16 and for the Kings Isaac Humphries & Kevin Lisch each scored 14.
Also today the Brooklyn Nets announced they've signed Akil Mitchell who had that devastating eye injury with the Breakers last season. Mitchell is now the third import from the NBL last season to be signed by an NBA team joining Terrance Ferguson (Oklahoma City) and Torrey Craig (Denver).
