Coinhive.com??

Post by Psyber »

In the last few weeks Firefox has been crashing on my Windows 7 32 bit machine, but not on my laptops, and Bugzilla advise it is linked to an issue with Comodo Internet Security. My two laptops with Windows 10 are not using Comodo and have had no Firefox issues. So I've accepted a two week trial of Malwarebytes Premium and stopped Comodo to see what difference it makes on the W7 machine.

Now I've just logged into this Forum and this keeps coming up...
Can anyone tell me what it is?

I looked it up myself and did a full scan with Malwarebytes and found many PUPs in the chrome appdata that were not there a few days ago.
The only change since the last scan was what looked like a genuine a javascript update which I'm now suspicious of.

They PUPs are now gone, and so is Chrome, but I'm still getting these pop ups on this site with Firefox.
I tried browsing a few other sites with Firefox for comparison but did not get these pop ups on them.

I'll keep checking it out, and I'll try logging in here with Opera shortly...

I've tried about 20 more random sites with Firefox this morning - some general and some requiring my login.
Only this site and Redlegs Talk are causing these messages to pop up.
