Re: The Ashes 2017/2018
The question on whether Bradman was better than modern day batsmen can only be answere on way in my opinion.
We will never know if he was 'better', whether the bowlers or pitches were 'better' but what we do know is he dominated the game like no other before him or ever since.
By being able to dominate his era he earns the right as being the 'best'

Test Runs scored in the last 3 years
If smith continues this for the next 3 years he will have close to 10000 test runs at an average of 67.7, and still only be 31 years old.
If he keeps going, Pontings Australian record for most runs seems inevitable. Even Tendulkar is not out of the question.

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018
The other thing I noticed about that table is the lack of Australians other than smith and warner. Voges is still our third highest run scorer over that period!!

We've had the biggest turnover of players in the past few seasons as I can ever recall.
Warner, Smith and Lyon would be the only 3 that have played over 80% of matches in the past 5 or 6 years.
It's always been said that it's harder to get out of the team than it is to get in it, but that theory seems to be vanishing, we have tended to give older batsmen lifelines in recent times which creates a revolving door.

Probably because Ooz and S.Marsh have been the most closest thing to Jesus Christ in history.
Apart from Warner, Smith, Starc and Lyon the selectors have had no idea what so ever.

I'm sure it is.
Won't see an ounce of sun before the start of play on the wicket.
Will be lucky to see 280 overs bowled for the match I reckon.

Re: The Ashes 2017/2018
The pink ball might be better for England than Australia ?
A lot of talk about how dangerous Anderson and Broad will be , which is prob going to be correct ?
But where it helps England over Australia could well be the change bowlers
In Brisbane Cummins and Lyon bowled very well , Ball, Woakes and Ali didnt do much
If its bowler friendly conditions in Adelaide , it means England will probably have more bowling depth
Forecast for cool weather and rain as well , the conditions give England some hope
Could be an upset, England would be stoked if they level the series 1-1

Jimmy Anderson is not as good with a Kookaburra compared to a Duke. But a pink Kooka adds another dimension. If England level the series we should all be thanking Keith Bradshaw......

Whilst I agree England's bowlers will enjoy these conditions the problem for them is their batsmen won't. There was hardly any sideways movement be it in the air or off the deck in Brisbane and they couldn't post a match winning total there. How they'll do it against Starc and Cummins in particular with a pink ball is the question.
Simply, can their batsmen give their bowlers something to bowl at? I doubt it.

Anderson will slice us open under lights with the pink ball. Then again so will Starc to England.

The way people are talking (weather, swing etc) you would be tempted to think he may not get much of a bowl.

Isn't it weird that you'd rather win the toss, score quickly and have a half hour dip at the opposition before the close of play.

In the current conditions yes the ball will swing. I havent checked the humidity levels for tomorrow and the rest of the test but im thinking it may be to cool to get maximum swing, 18 and 19 degrees isnt exaclty great swing bowling conditions without the humidity

Personally I think the difficulty of batting under lights adds a bit. Sometimes the final session can meander a bit until the new ball comes but this adds another dimension

Totally, a bit of zip around with the new ball, getting caught in two minds whether you play your own game or go into survival mode.
