I can’t speak for other clubs but Essendon has several coterie groups. We have a couple of very powerful coterie groups that I’m not a part of but have met several of the people on them and they invest quite a bit of money in the club and are quite influential. The Essendonians for instance is made up of some very powerful movers and shakers and often in the past have been responsible for board spills, coaching changes etc.
