Flags concerns to me that there is a reason for it, if anything the number pick he was sets of bigger flags. If he was a second strike player and the AFL knew would they then understand why a club would release him so cheaply.
I’m sure the AFL would have enquired as to why they are letting him go.
Maybe the club gave some solid financial planning in regards to the freed up salary and potential tactic with that.
He took a 6 year $6m deal from GWS when they started up. He's cited personal reasons for wanting to go back to Victoria and that has to be respected.
He badly broke an ankle early this year ( that's for @HH3 who doesn't watch AFL football ) and there's reports it's not come along very well, but, Hawthorn has reportedly offered him a 4 year deal after putting him through a medical, the Hawks don't make mistakes like that.
I think we were very interested in him but the reports from the medicos wasn’t great. May require further surgery and miss a fair chunk of next year. Pick 53 and a minimum wage might be worth the risk for Hawthorn.
