I'll go with Simon Ebert to win from Trigger in Central Div. Maybe Smart from Onkas as an outsider.

bad luck on the weekend cougar... what went wrong? i haven't read a match report yet, can you fill us in?

It's no secret our form leading up to the Finals hasn't been crash hot, and we probably needed to nail every opportunity that we had to go far in the Finals (Like last year). Unfortunately when you kick 3.13 in a half of footy, that can come back and hurt ya, which in the end it did. Paul James received his 3rd Yellow for the season for calling the ump 'A Cheat' and wouldn't have been available this week anyway. No doubt Key Position Players will be high on the Clubs and Brett's wish list for next season.

in your honest opinion would you say you'l have the luxury of all three James' at your club again next year?? the mighty $ can be very alluring, even to faithful clubmen!

I reckon the lure of big bucks depends on how much the blokes earn in their career outside footy. $400 a game might be plenty for a young apprentice but to an older bloke who has a professional career it's not worth the value of playing with your mates at your local club. Can't see what James brothers have to prove now, so why would you move.

Though, the $$$$ these days have destroyed plenty of club loyalty.

Fair call. And Rooster seems to know our Clubs $$ situation and Club's Constitution. Brett is on a 2 year Contract, but the Club wouldn't hold him back if an SANFL opportunity arises. He did speak however, after the match in how we as a group can improve for next year, which is promising. Paul will try and play as many game as his Father Adrian (400) for the Brookers and hopefully Roger's knees can go around again for another year.

Not upset at all. Lot of people from rival Clubs know our stance on $$ and our players loyalty to our Club. It's something we should be proud of, not upset about.

fair call.. and i have to say, as much as i used to hate... and i do mean hate.. you guys on the footy field.. i do admire your stance on the $ issue, my personal opinion is that player payments will lead to the death of a lot of country footy clubs, and its good that you guys are able to be competitive without them.
Unfortunately, you guys are the exception not the norm, and to be competitive, particularly in central, but increasingly so in country... it seems to be the only way!

is there any chance of kersbrook reviving their junior program?

With the points system leading to less highly-paid players in the hills, is it fair to say that the $$ that teams don't spend, be put into better facilities? eg Your club recruits 3 or 4 guys, points look to be full, but club had allocated perhaps a coupla grand more in the summer to players payments.
or will guys coming up the hill, the select few be even higher paid??

JQ I think payments will still be around the same mark for those players already being paid. And if anything the locals would possibly be paid a little bit bcos they only cost their club one point and so are very valuable.

Reviving Kersbrooks Junior Program is the Club's Number 1 Priority during the off season, but can say with a degree of certainty that we will have Junior Colts next year.

Cougar,
Do you think Roger may go and play at Onkas next year, I heard that he and Shane Collins are close mates and he has helped out at some trainings and Sunday games this year.

Yes Tex, Roger and Collo have been mates since High School at Birdwood. But in suggesting Roger going to Onkas, it's also noteworthy that Shane Collins is a registered player with the Kersbrook Football Club and played cricket for Kersbrook. I reckon we'd have as much chance in picking up Collo as they do Roger. It's a long wait for us now till Footy 2008, and a lot can happen.

Yeah TV looked a better side without you in it. And heard someone was looking to catch up with ya at the game on Sunday but couldn't find you. Lucky you.

Just heard through the grapevine, that Malleebull might have a couple of extra supporters for his GF at Lameroo this week. They personally wanna wish him 'Good Luck' before the game.

On the B grade central mail medal tonight- would be surprised if one of Sodomka(Ironbank) or Jones (Lofty) didn't win it. Both players would have to catch the eye and are around the umpires for most of the game. After last year with the Ironbank ruckman winning it could be back to back wins for young ruckmen in the B Grade.

Also don't discount Andrew Brereton from Lofty. An under rated defender who has had a huge 2nd half of the year. Look for him to charge home with some late votes.
