Re: Grade Cricket
Hadn't noticed it until now but Cameron Bullard not playing for Adelaide this season. Surprising, was a decent prospect coming through. Has had a couple of games at Noarlunga this season but that's all.

Just finished year 12, probably another one burnt out by the high performance program.Tony Clifton wrote:Hadn't noticed it until now but Cameron Bullard not playing for Adelaide this season. Southern Districts went 5-0 in the Under 17s and are through to the semi finals tomorrow. Great work from them! I'd wager that it's a fair while since they appeared in the 17s finals.

Used to be called the "Shell Shield" back in my day, it was a fierce competition.

On a positive note for junior cricket, Port Adelaide had a 3-2 record and finished 3rd in their pool, a small step in the right direction.

For what it's worth, the wicket last season was pretty dicey. Very dry, quite up and down. No idea what it's like now.

Re: Grade Cricket
East Torrens win the 20/20 Premiership and will represent SA in the new National 20/20 comp in Adelaide in March.
Having Jake Lehmann available probably got them over the line, plus Nick Benton getting injured and could not bowl in the final affected Port greatly.
Glenelg blew it big time in Semi due to Josh Roach brain fade. Needing three to win off last ball of match, they were coming back for second run to force super over, he allowed ball to hit stumps and then ET scrambled a third run to win, amazing stuff.
If Glenelg don't win a premiership in either the One Day (semi final on Feb 3) or Two Day Comps (currently 4th) this season, would that mean they have under achieved over last three seasons?
They have had a very stable side over that time, but keep choking in finals. I know they have done a great job to continually be up there in all comps, but do they feel they need to make some changes to get some reward, or just keep doing the same thing year after year?
2016/17 - lost semi in Two day, and Runner up in One day and 20/20
2017/18 - lost in semis of all three comps
2018/19 - lost semi today in 20/20, still alive in others.......??
Is an interesting question, what do The Hound and other Bay men think?

Josh Hoffmann quit cricket. Sometimes these young lads that are pushed and pushed by their parents get burnt out bit quicker. Only last year his Dad was on front page of Advertiser, taking his kid out of Private school as they would not let him play for Bays, so they home schooled him, now he is not even playing cricket. Won't be the last kid with bit of talent to take a break from cricket.
See the Bay's also kicked out Clarke, made their pace bowling attack bit weaker as he was pretty impressive last year. Pudney back though. Heard Clarke likes a drink and was on final warning, club had enough and out he went.

Re: Grade Cricket
Clarke out is a massive loss. Very good bowler.
Hopefully Hoffman just having a breather. Seems to be a bit of a pattern though - Giniotis, Reardon, Brennan, Gutschke, Robinson, Doimo. SA cricket doesn't have enough guns coming through to be seeing these guys fall by the wayside. Some have come back which is good.

Regardless of how Good a bowler you might be, if you are trying to get in punch ons with team mates, it’s unlikely any club will put up with that.

It played well, first game was at 9:30 and it didn't play any tricks, there was plenty of turn though, it looked a treat.
Apparently the pitch was vandalised last season, someone done burnouts over it, probably not the smartest thing to do to a rugby club, I wouldn't want to upset a group of islanders

How did your guys go?
Restricted the minor premiers (Woodville) to 9/83, we were seemingly cruising until a lad dictating the show was fired out run out in a very poor decision, we lost a coupe of wickets and momentum after that and Woodville bowled great lines until the last ball when our top scorer was caught on the boundary for us to lose by a run.
The umpiring was very poor, one couldn't talk properly and was all over the shop where the other was a control freak who would have a go at the kids in between every over despite being well ahead of the over rate and they were jogging through anyway, he called both teams in prior to the match to tell them how the game is going to be played.
The other ump called a legside wide when there was a feint inside edge (which he may not have heard) but the ball passed between the pads and leg stump and we called a wide.
Overall, our fielding was exceptional, Woodville's was poor but stepped up when it counted, we made poor choices in our bowling order and the captain needs to work on his field placements, Woodville made better choices in that department, a couple in our top order batted too slow and didn't rotate the strike.
I don't know who ended up winning the GF but Sturt and Woodville both have some very talented kids and either team deserved the win.

E2014, if you are going to pot one bloke you might as well pot the collective who were involved in the last play and the player who dropped Lehmann 2nd ball. Last play was in slow motion and will be talked about for years to come.
After the all conquering 2016/17 season, which was a fantastic achievement have the Eagles under achieved?
2017/18
2 Day finished 10th
1 day finished 8th
20/20 finished 4th lost qualifying final
2018/19
2 day currently 8th with 3 and half games to go, 55 points behind 4th, Semi finals?
1 day finished 7th
20/20 finished 5th if you don't count the ER's
I understand the WT coach gave the captain an instruction, he didn't follow it, it backfired and coach hopped into his car. Could be wrong though. However it might have been the difference in 0.119 % points and/or a win.
I guess the Bays being consistent is not good enough for some. They just need to remain composed in the big moments of finals games.
