Carlton have been unlucky with a few inconsistent decisions

There was one given to Richmond even though the Carlton player kicked it.

Anyone else noticed that Charlie Curnow is having an absolute stinker. Dropped 2 sitters in the first qtr and hasnt looked dangerous at all apart from an out the back goal.

Looks like he might have the flu? Playing flat
Or now McGovern is in he dont feel like the main man down there? And playing a role instead
Chuck him in the ruck for a burst

I'd run him off the wing... he is a running machine, can usually hold a mark, he can be the link man... Mackay at FF and McGovern CHFmarbles wrote:BZB27 wrote:Anyone else noticed that Charlie Curnow is having an absolute stinker. Was really pissed off after the 1st 1/4 but we got back into it ... plenty of good signs against arguably the best team in the comp...

Kouta style
Definitely didnt look his spritely self
Good to not face palm every 2nd time carlton went near the ball, good signs, new players need to gel too but a lot more reliability in execution
Casbault wouldnt be bad as a back up ruckman too
Petreski seaton looks not up to it imo, garlett bit the same, weitering looks like his mummy and daddy forced him to play footy but now hes a grown up he cant be bothered with it

Couldn’t agree more on P-Seaton and Garlett cost Carlton at least 4 goals tonight.

Paddy Cripps was the real winner tonight, finally looks like he has some help in Sam Walsh

Re: Round 1 - The new, the old and the who?
Think Carlton fans looking for hope saw a fair bit of it last night. Plenty of skill errors by both sides as you’d expect in round 1, but the Blues looked bold and energetic. Would want Kreuzer back ASAP and Charlie Curnow to impact more but he’s quality so that should happen.
Lynch is obviously better than he showed last night, but will be interesting to see whether he changes the Tigers dynamic

Re: Round 1 - The new, the old and the who?
Interesting one for Carlton will be how they could possibly make 3 big forwards work.
McGovern, Curnow and McKay are all ultra talented but not too sure many clubs have been able to find a winning system with 3 big boys in recent times. Only going to get harder as the season and winter weather conditions kick in.
Curnow is the one most likely to be able to full fill other positions but is also arguably the one with the highest ceiling.

Re: Round 1 - The new, the old and the who?
Carlton still have too many players just not up to AFL level. Weitering is going to challenge Watts as worst number 1 pick, Plowman and Garlett wouldn't get games at any other club. Cunningham can get the footy but makes terrible decisions every time. Never seen a team fumble so much in my life. I think every kick in we went short to pocket then long and turned it over, looked ok when going fast, as soon as we moved the footy slow Richmond got numbers back and couldn't get out of our half. Midfield looks much better but still lack real depth in there.

Re: Round 1 - The new, the old and the who?
Walsh, Dow and Fisher showed some promising signs. At last some assistance for Cripps out there. Murphy is getting on but with those kids adding to the mix Carlton almost have a midfield.
