Congrats to Mt Lofty on 3 GF's once again. You have ensured there will be a ton of red and white around Balhannah oval just like there was last year.
I saw all of the A's and B's- I think Mt Lofty B's are a carbon copy of the A's, they are much more talented and even than any of their opposition, they just have a tendency to go to sleep for patches of the game, kick innaccurately and be undisciplined and give away 50's. When the devil b's are on song they are untouchable in B grade.
As for the A grade game, Mt Lofty made Uraidla look slow, old and ordinary with their slick running and skillfull game. Cooper played an unreal game restricting J Brown to no stats and getting him dragged (and even put into uri's backline!!), and then shutting Loffler down when moved onto him. Baldock and Mehta made Uri's look like they were in playing in slow motion and Bawden was just untouchable all day both in the square and around the ground- that guy is the best player I have seen in Hills Footy this year. Apparently Trav White and Dk were pretty crook so they will be much better in the GF and Lofty seemed to cover the loss of Wood more than adequately with Trigger standing up. For mine Pucker and Loffler (first half) were the only real standouts whilst Ebert also played ok for Uri's. Urailda looked like they were in much more need of the week off this coming week than Mt Lofty, but now they must butter up again with sore bodies while Mt Lofty sleep in cotton wool beds. Look out on GF day with Wait, Gordon, Floreani, Artis, White, O. Temme and Dk whom were all ok on Saturday, but are all possible match winners and could play much better.

Exciting times at Mt Lofty at the moment, everybody knows how good the celebrations were last year after the 3 teams got up and will be doin everything they can to be able to enjoy it again.
A grade were sensational and just blew Uri's off the park with pace. The way Uri's played they mighten even make GF day.
B grade once again just gettin over the line... should be some nervous spectators come last quarter on GF day, great rivalry between the devs and bankers.
U17s were sensational and shocked Mt Barker who hadnt seen the Devils at full strength. Great team effort.
U14s Ironbank are a class above anyone else and play an entertaining brand of football.

Games this week at Hahndorf
A's Uraidla vs Blackwood
B's Ironbank vs Blackwood
17's Uraidla vs Mt Barker
14's Hahndorf vs Mt Barker

Not much news coming out of the Meadows camp, where are you Tex ?

Having watched both games over the weekend cannot see Blackwood getting close to Uraidla. Saturdays game was of a much higher standard and Onkas made Blackwood look good yesterday. Onkas coaching staff had tossed in the towel half way through the third quarter. At one stage I saw Collins and his runner working on the whiteboard with their backs to the game. Blackwood scored two goals in that time and they didn't see either of them. 7 goal differential was not a true indication of the game overall.

Agree that S Bau is an up and coming umpire but just hope he gets a GF in the juniors where he wont be intimidated when a player looks at him.

I must have been wrong about the HFL Medal night as I see that the Big O in the budget thought that the meal and the service was great and that the compere did a great job.

I would've thought if you kick 7 goals your opponent hasn't done good job.

I thought Massie did good job on Franklin keepin him to 7 goals too

Credit where it's due - you can't win playing less than 4 q's in a final - shit TDU - You already know that.
We were good until we were over run in last 15 minutes with TV playing really well to get over us.

I may have missed any discussion - What's the thoughts on Mike Bawden's coach of the year trophy?? Im certainly not having a go at him - but seriously - who voted on that??!!

Funny you should ask that question Tex as it was a topic of discussion on Sat with my Uraidla counterpart as they had a similar view.

I know I am biased but Exelby took IB from bottom to fifth.

Any of Grainger, Sutherland or Stringer in my opinion would be worthy winners and I guess there are others that you can put a case forward for.

I have no idea who votes on it, probably O and the team.

The premiership coach would probably be the best option but they obviously dont want to wait that long.

Widdo started off quietly for IB due to missing the preseason but then came good at end of the year and played quite well in last rounds and the final featuring in the best players.

Probably cant say too much about Contin cos only seen him play few games but from what ive seen done pretty well. Played very well in their last qtr comeback against IB and not too badly in the final the other week.

How can the Echunga coach get coach of the year. Its not that hard to coach a team to 4th or 5th or whatever it was in Country League when the bottom 5 teams are useless. Thought Exelby was lil robbed maybe improving the rookies and taking from one win to 5th. Apparently it alternates between central and country each yr. lil silly

Yeah, seems a little odd that one given that Echunga was probably the biggest disappointment in the Country Division.

Considering they bought 11 new players to finish 5th in Country Div, I concur. If it was based purely on the Minor Round, I'd go Sutherland, Stringer and then D Ex.

Add to that - they went from 6th to 5th - effectively only replacing Birdwood who went into Central!!!!!

Interesting follow up to last Saturday's B grade preliminary final is that a Blackwood player want's to lay an assault charge against a Macclesfield player. I can't say I'm totally against it but given that one of our players was belted in an unrelated incident, I guess they must think that because the player on the receiving end is 6 foot 5 and weighs 140 kilo's that that's OK, and the events that occurred prior to the first bounce when we played our minor round A grade clash against them at Blackwood a couple of months ago, it is a bit disappointing.

RE Echunga's Bawden getting coach of the year. Unlike other Clubs in the country leauge, Those 10 players weren't bought only 2 were paid, the rest come with the coach as he has big following was let down in the first final (And who was it to, the now grand final team). And has already got some big names for next year, but do agree it is judged to early and really should go to the grand final winning coach. Country Grand final should be interesting. But remember Kersbrook done exactly the same thing last year came from 5th and then got thumped in the Grand Final! Has Torrens Valley already played their Grand Final........ I was there on Saturday but missed the B grade Final.. have seen the Maccy boys fire up before was it a brawl or a behind the play thing?

Country Grand Final.

A's Kangy Vs Torrens Valley - Kangy by 10 goals +
B's Kangy Vs Blackwood - Blackwood
17's Meadows Vs Echunga - Echunga - They came close last time without Guy & Rothe (2 mail meadlist)
14's Torrens Valley Vs Meadows - Torrens Valley.

On the Coaches award:

Don't agree Sutherland would have been top three, look at the players he has to work with, compared to what D. Exelby and Stringer do... And then add to that the two pretty ordinary losses to blackwood in the minor round and Lofty this week!

The award should be voted on by the other coaches in my opinion! Gives the award a little more merit than the Big O rotating between the two divs each year and pulling a name out of a hat...
