Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
APFL definitely looking at an interesting future, most Clubs are experiencing significant issues it would seem...
- Junior player number issues at Hamley Bridge, United, Virginia and HWE
- Senior player depth issues at Hamley Bridge and United
- Administrative/governance issues on the APFL Board (highlighted in recent media)
Moving forward it would be a great move if the APFL looks at:
- If the Greenock proposal would further reduce the quality/standard of the League or present a genuine opportunity
- Strategically plan for the expansion of the Roseworthy region, develop partnerships with Light RC/Adelaide University looking to the future (otherwise BL&GFA will benefit significantly at APFL's expense)
- Investigate strengthening the League through Club redistribution (Freeling/Greenock/Bute/Trinity OS/etc.)
- Investigate combining junior teams to strengthen the quality of competition (United/Hamley Bridge colts teams - closely followed by HWE and Virginia)
- Place genuine measures/effort into Hamley Bridge, remaining winless at senior level is unsustainable
- Appoint independent, skilled individuals (strategic planning, finance, etc.) onto the APFL to improve governance/administration standards
- Ensuring Angle Vale continue to develop sustainably
These are only suggestions to consider APFL fans!

Well the APFL procedure manual updated on the 7th of April is incorrect then.

I'm just going what SportsTG says, not that they are using them all anyway.

And they have kids playing A's who are worth -1, it's an unfortunate situation as most clubs have ebbed and flowed and have had their share of success over the past 15 to 20 years, I can't see Hamley getting out of this rut any time soon without a housing boom in their vicinity or a sustained financial input.
There's a lot of good people working hard around the club to keep it afloat.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Extra points hasn’t worked for Bute and Ardrossan up here on Yorkes. Both clubs have 20 and at times last year played colts and played with 22 points. Both teams are in the bottom half and won’t challenge any top 4 side this year. 20 points divided the salary cap and you end up with 8 average footballers and still not many wins. Points works against the salary cap for these clubs. I’m sure Bute would love to have some big name guns but fitting them in if they fill all 20 points would be way over the cap. Good footballers don’t play for $200 anymore.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
So, we go into the Landmark Cup with some interest given the varying form lines in the top 5.
Don't really get the slide at Mallala after seeing them in round 3.
I even rated Virginia's performance in round 4 better than HWE's in round 2 but the Eagles have clearly lifted a gear or two since. Nathan Studham's return appears to the catalyst, along with Justin Cicollela's fitness.
Two Wells is largely back on track, not too much concern from that camp.
So there's suddenly a squeeze on for the top four and with Lachy Michael facing 10 weeks off, things are also pretty interesting at Balaklava.
I thought United was really solid on the weekend despite not getting the chocolates too.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Massive A Grade clash next weekend (after Landmark Cup) at Port Wakefield between HWE and Two Wells.
Rumours suggest that temporary grandstands are being setup at Port Wakefield Oval and an industrial size sausage roll order from Kipling's Bakery has been placed with a huge crowd predicted.

Ardrossan won a final in that competition last year didn’t they?

How has Harry Gameau able to slip through and not be picked in the squad for Landmark Cup?

It does seem a bit odd with the large number of people in the squad that I can only spot 1 ruckman and he isn’t one of them

Agree with Swamp! If you go through two wells books you would see there are multiple quality players on that if not less! The key for two wells is they are locals and the club is having success!

Not talking about locals, locals play for nothing. Bute and Ardrossan need quality recruits to lift the standard of their teams. No genuine gun from town is going to travel up to Yorke’s every Saturday for $200 or less.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Looks like a fair few players will be out with suspensions.
United should get a look at Virginia without Staple, Stanley, Bartlett and Jones.
Heard Edmead may also miss the HWE clash after failing to train.
