JQ - Got this from the MLCC forum -

Firstly the A1's will remain unchanged from last year (i.e. the same 10 teams.

The A2 grade will have three extras teams - Onkas, Stirling and Eastern Ranges have all promoted their A3's from last year.

The A3's look like there will be only 7 teams with Onkas & ER moving up to A2's they will not have a A3 side. Stanley Bridge seem to have dissapeared and unless they nominate a side within the week will be dropped out completely. Basket Range have also pulled out of the A3's. This leaves only us, Stirling (a team of old timers making a comeback), Aldgate, Bridgie, SCIBS, Mylor and Happy Valley. The association may ask Basket Range or Aldgate Pump to come up from the A4's to make an even numbered comp.

The A4's is where the action is with about 14 teams nominated (much the same as last year).

No more Stanley's it sounds, cant say Im dissapointed, brought nothing to the HCA.....while C grade has dropped I think it will make it a higher quality comp with a few of the strugglers not there...

Fatalberton might like to confirm/deny above?

As I recall fron HCA AGM Pt2.

10 A/1s - same as last year
11 A/2s - moving up are Onkas, Ling and E.Ranges
7 A/3s - still no word on Stanleys and Baskets have pulled this grade this season
11 A/4s - with a few A/3 teams dropping down as they think the A/3s is a "bullshit" comp where A-graders who can't be **** fielding for 70 overs hide...

There may be some "encouragement" by the HCA to move a certain A/4 team up a grade to even things out.

The A/2 draw will be a nightmare to program...

As I see it with 18 weeks available in the summer the A/1s is easy to program - 9 x 2-day games...

The A/2 will have to be a mix of one-day and two-day games... It will have to be done as a 14-team draw with three days of byes for each side - perhaps 4 x two-day and 7 x one-day to make 15 playing days... otherwise you'll have some teams having a 1-day bye, and others a 2-day bye which would not work.

A/3s will be a circus I think with so few teams playing each other 2 or 3 times. Will be real potential for season-long bitterness to brew if any "unsavoury" incidents occur in the early rounds. Less likelihood of this perhaps if no Stanleys and if Hamish is in fact captaining the Ling's A/2s... LOL!!!

A/4s will be a bunch of fat old hacks... as usual... and I'm expecting us to suffer some terrible losses...

What a cop out...are you serious that clubs think that? or is that a shot at someone like me who cannot commit to 2 consecutive days of cricket anymore and the body is showing wear after 3 knee ops and 18 seasons on A grade "70 over" cricket...

Not my words (or thoughts), but almost verbatim the words of one club delegate. Personally I'm actually a bit disappointed that due to the apparent talent (and relatively younger age) of a few new and returning faces at our club, I'm likely to be in the A/4s this summer...

The amusing thing is that the club at which this comment was most likely directed have in fact moved up to A/2s... It's like 10,000 spoons...

Hope onkas have recruited well, they will get smacked in B grade if there playing there C grade team from last year... I guess they have to do it so that some of the young guys can have a chance of playing A's

What about Clarendon? I didnt realise they didnt field a team last year, what happened? They always had a solid C grade team

Aldgate Pump really should be playing C grade, half there players have played at some level of district cricket apparently

Agree it is a ballsy move by Onkas, but seriously it has been a travesty that them and the Ling have not has A/2s over the past 5 years or so...

Pump might be under the pump to move up.

In regards to Clarries I just don't think they could be bothered anymore. A bit odd, and they had 2 or 3 handy players.

Also, can confirm that Stanleys are in, as suggested by Silverfox.

Only 8 A3 teams, interesting.
If Onkas haven't bolstered that previous A3 team they will get shallacked in A2's, but some guys might step up.
A3 is viewed by some as a cop out, no doubt. But I play for Aldgate and can't train all the time. With the quality we had last year there was no way I could be fairly picked in A2's. So no doubt there are some people in my and Dutchy's situation, albeit for different reasons.
Shame they let Stanley's back in...
A3's is bloody good fun anyway.

I'd prefer you don't try too hard to make that Lofty team, Dutch. Almost pipped us to a GF!
Was talking with Bainesy the other day about it and we were a little more on edge in the semi than the GF!
