Yesterday, driving along quite happily, the engine simply died, taking the power steering with it. Fortunately I was able to coast into a side street without hitting anything, where the car was restarted without problem.
Is instantaneous engine death likely to be a symptom of an oil leak into the spark tubes? Hadn't noticed any other problems to that point.
JFTR, I booked in the car to fix the leak this morning. Won't happen until the new year though (bloody Xmas...)

In a word, yes, but it could be a myriad of other things, too.
If the plugs are oily and aren't firing then no bang in the cylinder no power.

Common issue I believe with those. Not long after they shut up shop some I know had an oil leak and needed the whole engine replacedPseudo wrote:Brodlach wrote:Is it a Ford Falcon by any chance?

Yeah, I thought as much. Though I'm surprised it went straight from clean running to engine death; no misfiring or sluggishness. Cheers.
