Been retired 9 years.
No intensity in the field or batting, looked like a casual game not what Section 1 felt liked, bowling looked pedestrian ( champion that he is, the bloke who was opening for the A grade when I was playing still is today ), general look of the players was a bit hap hazard, as in shirts not tucked, black sneakers, hats of all different colours. We once prided ourselves on presenting as a team, didn't quite look the same.
Speaking to some club stalwarts who haven't played for 20 years but still watch most weeks, the comp isn't anywhere near what is once was but that's no surprise, hard to get people into and keep them into cricket nowadays.

The average age of players through most of the grades would be north of 30 I would imagine.
Very hard to keep youngsters involved for various reasons, it's just the stalwarts making up the numbers.
I think cricket in this state is not in a healthy position. Possibly ASCA may have to look at reducing Sect 1 to 60 overs or one dayers through all grades every round.

I watched a couple of Grade 2 matches last year and the bowling was crafty, but very pedestrian, it would've been equivalent to Grade 5 half a dozen years ago.

We had 6 there at 12.50 (start time 1.30) when the day was called off (obviously too wet) and becomes a one day game this week. They wanted the forfeit win and were very serious about it.
