Thanks guys but I'm just concerned about the family, him and his wife have been together as long as I've known them and they look after a beautiful young girl with downs syndrome who is very reliant upon them, I'm not sure if she fully understands what has happened and there must be huge concerns about her future. Very sad times.

Close friend of 40 years falls off a quad bike and is pronounced brain dead upon arrival to hospital.
Wasn't a fun shift at work last night finding that out 5 minutes before I started.

Nearing 50 makes me sad, so many more funerals than weddings or births.

Was kept on life support for 3 days to assess whether his liver would be suitable for donation and passed away last night.
I love the fact we can donate organs these days but it must be hard on the family having people's bodies kept alive extra days to help the process.

Sorry to hear, yeah, seems a bit excessive that they kept him alive for them purposes, definitely not fair on the family.

On the flip side, a few years ago my sister noticed a "Birds of Paradise" plant that she took from dads house had flowered in the morning, later that day she received a letter in the mail thanking her for my dads eyes that were donated and enabled someone to see again, it was ironic and touching.

Sh1t Wegs, that's horrible. I've had a few tragedies in my circles too. Brings home a few truths about life death and 'living' life to the fullest doesn't it?

Yeah my Saturday cricket is so important to me and my mental health and well being. Especially as i get older and cant really play rugby anymore.

It's only an amateur sport but i **** i love it.

Nah. In the end they had some work collegues (which my partner is of the bride) who missed out on an invite so someone else got a last minute call up which works better for me anyway.

Cant put a time on cricket and would hate to walk in during speeches or something.

Turns out you could've gone to the wedding
duck and 1 wicket off 3 overs in a very comprehensive win by about 100 runs

Yeah pretty easy day at the office.

Got given LB absolutely smashing it onto my pads but them the breaks hey.

i always bowl when the teams needs to a job done but it was all pretty easy on the weekend, so got to chill in the covers.

We now play Blyth, the town i actually live in so the pressure is on.

Little old bloke who drank at my local, lived alone, had been in shocking health for several years. Had a hip replacement, it came out three or four times, had it done again, same thing.

A few of us pitched in and braved some pretty ordinary conditions about 12 months ago and went to his house for a working bee and gave his house the clean it desperately needed. Fair to say he wasn't taking very good care of himself.

When the pubs closed I feared for him a bit, knew it would be tough on the old bugger, firstly the 6 pints he had every afternoon with his daily doubles and the contact it gave him with other people would be gone.

He was found a couple of days ago by the district nurse after having a stroke and being there for a day or two on his own, he passed away last night.

Rest easy little Bazz, I'll have a daily double later and a pint in your memory.
