A street directory I used for years didn't have Lonsdale Highway or Oaklands Rd matching up.
My old man used to drive taxis and I loved getting his hand me down UBDs, I would go through them spending hours for some reason.

Sounds like you were lost back then!
But now you're found.

This is fascinating, having look at it now. Looking at the maps around my area, part of Largs North used be named Swansea which is now the name of my family homes street. My part of Largs North didn't exist which I knew as it's relativity new but I didn't know Victoria road was split into separate streets/roads, Largs Terrace and Outer Harbour Road. Lady Gowrie Drive didn't exist, The Esplanade didn't run all the way along and stopped at Strathfield Terrace which turned into Outer Harbour Road.Magellan wrote:Whilst we're on the topic of history, this 1936 Gregory's street directory is a worth a look.

Also interesting to see that the Port River ran all the way down to Grange.

Let me guess - after the game they'd stroll over to Alberton East and give the toffs a serve before looking for a house party to gate-crash in Kelmscott or Everton, or perhaps wander over the wrong side of the tracks to find some trouble in 'Gray-Town.'
