Rather than removing previous artistic statements that don't fit today's attitudes, let's encourage expression that embodies a fair and inclusive society, and highlight the wrongs of the past and the lessons learned.

They're a record of times gone by, one thing that can't be changed is history and thinking the removal of a statue changes what happened and what that person did is ridiculous, senseless.
Who knows how history will view the times we live in ( quite poorly one assumes ).

Yep, "Don't mention the war" episode pulled from streaming services as the old Major uses the term "wog" and it's been deemed offensive by 2020.
F*ck 2020.

Re: Cancel Culture
An episode of Fawlty Towers famous for coining the phrase, “Don’t mention the war!” has become the latest “classic” British television programme to be taken down from a BBC-owned streaming service, as broadcasters continue to conduct a reappraisal of old British television content.
The episode of the 1970s sitcom – in which John Cleese as Basil Fawlty goose-steps around a Torquay hotel while shouting the phrase – was recently removed from the BBC-controlled UKTV catch-up service.
A spokesperson for UKTV repeatedly refused to clarify why the programme had been removed, or whether the decision was permanent: “We aren’t commenting on individual titles. However, we regularly review our programmes, and make edits, add warnings and make schedule changes where necessary to ensure that our channels meet the expectations of our audience.”
It is unclear what prompted the company to stop streaming the episode, which culminates in Cleese’s character making comments about the second world war to a German family.
The original broadcast also included a scene in which Major Gowen, a regular guest at the hotel, uses very strong racist language in relation to an anecdote about the West Indies cricket team. A decade ago many broadcasters began editing out this part of the programme, although the racist language can still be heard on the version hosted by Netflix.

Given Chris Lilley's 'blackface' efforts have been canned, I'm wondering if the offense extends to 'whiteface', such as this effort by Eddie Murphy:

that's what museums are for. The statue which was thrown in the river recently, that was the same river the man used to chain his slaves up and put concrete around their feet and drown them... What these statues represent is oppression and slavery unsure why you'd wanna keep them up...
Had a little chuckle a nascar driver retired due the confederate flag was banned at races...

Re: Cancel Culture
I've got no problem whatsoever the statues representing slavery being torn down they never should've been up in the first place.
Pulling Chris Lilley shows & Little Britain from streaming services is a bit much though. None of them are funny so they fail as comedies but regardless they were of their time. Kingswood Country wouldn't last five minutes in this day and age but rightly so too.
We've always re-written history otherwise Rolf Harris and Jimmy Savile would still be revered.
