I can see him hanging up the boots at the end of the year, if not before then. He looks both mentally and physically cooked.Eagles2014 wrote:Convenient really, saves the embarrassment of dropping him.someguy1 wrote:Looks like everyone calling to drop Tex get their wish this week, out 1-2 with a knee issue.

if he retires then they wouldn't have to pay the whole figure, if I'm correct?Dutchy wrote:they could afford toJim05 wrote:Paying out his huge contract for next year are they?Eagles2014 wrote:Convenient really, saves the embarrassment of dropping him.someguy1 wrote:Looks like everyone calling to drop Tex get their wish this week, out 1-2 with a knee issue.

Re: Adelaide Crows 2020
Their salary caps plans for 2021 would already include both Walker and Gibb's contracted salary, so if they both decided to retire (or play elsewhere with Adelaide paying a large portion of their wage) and the club agreed to pay them for 2021 it wouldn't be an issue, especially considering they would be replaced with minimum wage kids.
Baring Crouch I don't see any out of contact stars that have their hand out for more $ next year which is going to stretch them. Unless McKay brings out the photo's again

Re: Adelaide Crows 2020
They'll be hard pressed justifying paying 95% of the cap.
The B Crouch case couldn't be any worse for both him and Adelaide. He's gone from a $700k player ( for him ) and at least a 1st rounder + something ( for Adelaide ) to someone who might get $500k elsewhere and maybe get Adelaide a 2nd rounder.

What would the Crows get if he's taken as a FA?Booney wrote:They'll be hard pressed justifying paying 95% of the cap.

It's aligned with his age ( 26 ), length of contract and size of the deal.JK wrote:What would the Crows get if he's taken as a FA?Booney wrote:They'll be hard pressed justifying paying 95% of the cap.

Geelong got end of 1st round for Motlop, West Coast got end of 1st round for Lycett, Bulldogs for end of 2nd round for Dahlhaus.
You'd think end of 1st round, so pick 19.

Re: Adelaide Crows 2020
So Crows end up with (likely) Pick 1, 19 and don't they have another clubs 1st rounder? Nothing there to make them an instant finalist or anything, but not a terrible launching pad for a rebuild ... IF they choose wisely (and the first round isn't decimated by academy and FS picks).Booney wrote:It's aligned with his age ( 26 ), length of contract and size of the deal.JK wrote:What would the Crows get if he's taken as a FA?Booney wrote:They'll be hard pressed justifying paying 95% of the cap.

Re: Adelaide Crows 2020
As MW notes, they also have GWS 1st rounder, likely to be in the 14-18 range so potentially 1 and two around 15-20.
They also have Bulldogs 2nd rounder ( Keath ) and their own so potentially ( as an absolute guess ) :
1,15 ( GWS ), 19 ( Crouch ), 20 ( 2nd round ), 33 ( Bulldogs ) in a year where some Father-Son picks/points may be required.

Mate, he's like hard rubbish on your nature strip. Someone really desperate will come along, pick through all your other junk and leave him behind as even they think he's too busted to fix.MW wrote:Nah what's hilarious is Essendon refusing 2 x 1st rd picks for a buckled wheel in Daniher who will leave for nothing next year

C'mon Jim keep it original.
Speaking of laughs, will Essendon survive when the 34 players eventually launch a class action against the club for the jab jab saga?

Re: Adelaide Crows 2020
Who knows, no doubt somewhere down the track it could be an issue but it wouldn’t be the whole 34 as some took “very good” contracts to finalise the matter.MW wrote:C'mon Jim keep it original.

Courts will be too busy with Crows players taking action against the club for the “ball cupping” camp anyhow
